Lost one of my guppies. Dunno why, there was nothing visibly wrong with it.
Only thing I can think is because there was a even number of fish in the tank- whcih sounds stupid bt lemme explain.
I can't keep fish in even numbers. When I do, at least one randomly dies for no apparent reason. Had this problem every since I got my first fish.

Anyway, saw the most beautiful female betta today. She was green and blue, and had the most beautifully shaped tail/fins.

I'm going back to the pet shop I saw her in tomorrow, and would like to get her.
Problem is where to put her. I only have two tanks running right now, (well, three, but I wouldn't be putting her in the unheated pearlscale tank) one with the three female guppies in, and the other is the community tank.

Is there any chance I could put her in with the guppies? They're all pale coloured, light yellow tails.
Dont' really wna to try her in the community tank, my male betta is pretty mellow, but he did get abit flary when I first introduced the bumble bee platies (if you can call it flaring, his beard is so tiny its pathetic).

Unless I do some serious rearranging, I don't really have anywhere to set up one of my other empty tanks right now. We're moving rooms upstairs, so everythings abit of a mess. I could find somewhere to put one, it just won't be easy.

Help?

From my experience I think it's best to try her in her own tank for a while, to see what her temperment's like, then put the two take next to each other. If she tolerates them, go for it. If she flares and tries to attack, or really showcasing aggression at all, don't. That's how I do it with my female bettas being introduced to one another but that's just me.

Anyone have any tips? My 75 gallon's one filter isn't working. We have tried to fix it and it just won't work. We have also replaced the UV sterilizer multiple times and it doesn't seem to be working either! The tank is completely green. Even after a almost 100% water change, it is completely green. I can't see my poor fish! It has been like this since spring! Idk what to do :(

My two 15 gallon tanks were empty. I decided to put two of my Bettas in there. I put Lunar in the end table one since the poor guy is really old (3 years) and not moving around much, so he deserves a huge tank to spend the rest of his time in. I put Ryuu in the column tank since he is young and active.

I found at last night that my sister's Betta was not being taken care of at all. It has lived in a 1 gallon bowl all it's life, hasn't had a water change in over a month, and had been sitting in a pitch black room with no food for a week. It also is blind from ammonia burn. Poor guy... I took him from her (she literally has yet to even notice). I put him in my empty 2.5 gallon with stress coat. Hopefully he will make a recovery! He was already a rescue from being a fighter. He already seems to be feeling a lot better. His name is Ice.

Actually, I'd put her right in with the guppies. This way, she doesn't get used to having her own little territory. If you add her to the guppies rather than the guppies to her tank, it should probably go better since they already have the territory and she is the newcomer.
Just watch them and if things seem way too stressful, separate them. Just don't jump the gun, because it may take a little bit for things to settle into a nice pattern.
I definitely wouldn't put her with the male. You shouldn't keep males and females together. They will fight.

i agree with this BUT one thing to remember.

if a female betta sees another fish as another female betta, she WILL chase it. she wont hurt the other fish, just chase. this is how females set up a hierarchy in the tank. and if a guppy(or the betta, some guppies are mean lil' suckers) get a nip on their fins, just add some salt. bettas with salt in their water look great, their colors brighten and they are much more active. guppies actually prefer salt in their water(some people even keep fancy guppies in reef tanks with clownfish and other small, peaceful fish, and the fish are just fine and tend to live LONGER than guppies in freshwater). I add half a teaspoon per gallon, though if the tank is under ten gallon half a teaspoon is all you need. if there are catfish in the tank don't worry about the salt, but if there are none I recommend it.

today my family decided that our Oscar was way too bored and needed something to do, so my mom went our and bought ten 3-4 inch long feeder goldfish(one of which was solid white...only one I liked, it went first) and dumped into the tank. the Oscar went berserk on the poor little guys. he has spent all day stalking them and launching at them and catching them in an explosion of scales. he is down to five of the little guys(he is too full to hunt any more, so he is having a well deserved rest in his floating mass of plastic plants he has destroyed just to make a bed to lay on so he stays mid-level). I told my mom to also grab some one inch feeders(guppies or something) for my bichir so he can get off of his fat lazy butt and hunt, but she forgot...so he is still chilling at the bottom waiting for his next meal to fall in front of him. the pleco was also not too happy with the bigger goldfish(that pleco will literally chase down smaller fish to eat, ive watched him charge and catch a two inch goldfish and sink to the bottom sucking on it, after two minutes there was not even bones left from the plecos kill).

I'm not really sure where to or what exactly to replace. It's a built in filter. My dad thinks it may be the propeller.

I'm pretty sure petco has some, petsmart may, online definitely has them. If you switched off the filter, then you could use a new one. Also, what type is your tank? __ gallon and ____ brand

It is a 75 gallon, but I'm not sure of the brand because we got it secondhand from my aunt and uncle. The filters have tubes that run down to the bottom of each back corner and then have a square box with bars that sucks in water, then in pours out of two openings at the top and one is barely pouring out water. Is the suspended algae hurting the fish? Poor things probably can't see :(
