The Wolf Charm wrote:So 10 tetra and a gourami? Just before I settle on that would you mind answering these questions for me? I want to make sure I'm completely settled before I try to persuade my mum haha C:

1. Is there anything a glass catfish could mix with?
2. Is there any other centrepiece fish (like the gourami) that could go with neons/galaxy rasboras?
3. Tetras first, bigger fish later?

Thanks for all your help guys!

10-15 tetra maybe. I'd get 10 first and then see how it looks like, learn to take care of them etc. before getting more if there seems to be enough space. I got ~30 tetras in my 128 liter and well, if they are hiding I don't even notice them in the tank.

1. As in get mixed with? No. To go together in a tank? Yes, many. But glass cats themselves don't fit into 54 liter and are also schooling fish, incase you didn't know.
2. In 54 liter, I don't think so. There are several small species of gourami(dwarf and honey are probably the most common ones) and also betta that can fit into 54 liter, but other 'big' fish need bit more space. Dwarf cichlids are maybe the closest to fit, but not sure if they have large enough mouths to eat galaxy rasboras...
3. That's the way I'd do it. c: Remember to cycle the tank first though.

Hi-fin platies are not mollies, they're a hybrid fin type of Xiphophorus maculatus/Southern platies.

:o Never seen or heard of those, my bad then. ^^' I've only seen anything high/sail-fin in the stores around here be mollies, and they were HUGE.

[size=85]So could I or could I not house those with the tetras and the gourami? Thanks once again for all your help C:
EDIT:
8 neon tetra
1 dwarf gourami
3 hi-fin platy (or another 8x of danios)?

I've checked around the internet and they seem like they would be okay together.

... well that's a problem. I'll separate them immediately, goodness this is horrifying I'm so glad none of them were hurt :0 his fins have just grown, and when we got him he looked like a female and was labelled as one too. I guess I should be more careful!!!

Petstores mislabel bettas all the time. xD
But chances are if the betta looks like a male, it likely is one. I haven't heard of many very manly female bettas, even though I do know it's possible.

I say you'd be overstocked with those numbers. Platies make a TON of waste. Ideas for you:

Idea #1
1 dwarf gourami
6 neon tetras
6 ember tetras

Idea #2
1 dwarf gourami
10 neon tetras

Idea #3
1 dwarf gourami
12 ember tetras

Idea #4
1 dwarf gourami
8 ember tetras
3 endlers

Idea #5
1 dwarf gourami
6 neon tetras
3 endlers

Oh I forgot about the endlers idea, and they're pretty. I think I'll go with the fifth idea, thank you!
