How many birds do you own? ( if applicable ): I own 6(ish) year old green and yellow budgerigar called Lightning. My 15 year old blue budgie just passed away, her name was Skye.

How long have you had them?: I have had Lightning for about 5 years. Skye I had for 9 years.

What brings you to the bird chat?: I really wanted to look at everyone's birds! I adore birds and I previously owned chickens.

I'm here with sad news, and also good news.

Sadly Blue my little female turquoise budgie passed away the morning of the 24th April. Her illness was sudden, she showed no signs until it was too late, she passed away in my hands. She was sitting on the side of the food dish and I scooped her up, I had her in a soft cloth, she relaxed and passed away a little while later.
Teal kept coming to me, he was perched on my hand, and I watched as he turned his head looking all around the room for her. That night he couldn't decide where he wanted to sleep having the cage to himself.

Teal is alright now, that's because he has 3 new budgie friends.
Back on February 19th I had 3 chicks come to my care 2 were 8-10 days old and one was 1-2 days old. They are the offspring of a past budgie chick I hand raised. I feel accomplished and a sense of pride that all 3 are healthy energetic 2 + month olds. The 1-2 day old one is the youngest I've ever hand raised/hand fed. A little yellow and green pied female, she was slightly stunted, her feathers took a while to fully grow in, and she's missing the claw and tip of the outer back toe of her right foot, and though slightly smaller than her siblings she moves like the Flash. Her name is Dot.
Her siblings are Zen, grey/green yellow face, I think female, and Boof a soft green with a hint of blue overlay depending on the light yellow face I think male.

So I went from 2 budgies to 5 budgies, then 4 after Blues passing.

Samba - Pineapple Green Cheek Conure
Alaska - Albino Indian Ringneck
How long have you had them?: Tango I've had for 2 years, Samba has been here for about 8 months, and Alaska was brought home a month ago.
What brings you to the bird chat?: I noticed the thread hadn't been active for a while, and I love birds.

It really seems not active anymore this forum about birds...bit sad....
No talk about how cute there birds are, or if they like to bite and not be touched, what is fully alright.^^

There is so much one could talk about...one does not need to share pics...but maybe other things..
...
No talk about what you feed, like what fruit, vegi ,herbs,grains, and added extra feed.....
What nuts do your birds like...
...if you shower your bird with a shower or mist spray bottle
...how you clean there aviary or that?
... Nothing to talk about how to take care of them in heat in summer or when it is cold...how you protect them...?

So maybe that could be a new start...when there are still bird owner here
....
We did start to try new pellets, and also dry fruit and dry fruit mix for my birds...for there foraging wheel(got a new one, old one had to be put away after some years of use and cleaning ...was also lower prize so had to get it, as so well made too) together with there normal bird feed in a stainless steel bowl...i think they like it in some way^^

There raw chunky soaking blend food or those to cook, they still not so happy about..

Hi everyone! My birds are my life, and I recently got a new addition yo the little family, a baby cockatiel, he's currently 9 weeks old, and I'm struggling to wean him, he's refusing to eat anything besides millet, and even then hardly eats it unless I pretend to, and I still handfeed him twice a day, only 2 days ago, I finally got him to drink water out of his own. does anyone have tips that actually work for a baby tiel that's struggling to wean? Oh and he also makes a huge fuss when he's in his cage, him and his bothers and sister (a conure, macaw and a budgie, odd mixture), always free roam in my house, but he's been making a fuss of his cage ever since I fisrt moved him, is there any way to make him feel more at ease without distressing him too much?

How many birds do you own?: Only one, an African grey named Charlie. My 'tiel, Gonzo passed earlier in September, still missing the little dude, so he gets an honorable mention ;w;
How long have you had them?: I've had Charlie for about 10 years, and had Gonzo for 16
What brings you to the bird chat?: I just really love 'em! I'm autistic and they're one of my special interests, so happy to see a thriving community of birdlovers here! ^^

How many birds do you own? : 2 red rump parakeet, 2 bourke parakeet, 2 button quail, a ring neck dove and a love bird
How long have you had them?: all are under a year
What brings you to the bird chat?: just got super into birds. My mom started raising finches and budgies. Snow bowled from there to me having 8 birds.
Love them all and they get so many good snacks.
The love bird is being hand feed and is so fun compared to hand feeding budgies
