My budgie has been nibbling on my fingers a lot lately and I’m not sure why. I’d give him water in a water bottle cap sometimes and he’d drink out of it for a little bit, then goes off to nibble on my fingers. He doesn’t seem to be nervous since he can get on my hand and doesn’t go the opposite direction if I’m near him.

If it doesn’t hurt it’s totally normal, but if it hurts then you probably have upset him.

My budgies do the same, Jangle is gentle all the time, Bo sometimes is a bit rough and the nibble turns to a minor bite, if Jangle sees Bo doing it Jangle will chase Bo off, Bo knows Jangle's "no" because Jangle gives Bo a peck to the butt, well, where back and tail feathers meet. Otherwise Bo gets a stern "That's not nice, no!" from me and stops.

I had to lay down on my bed today as i'm having strong pain medication for a tooth ache I can't get seen to until after the weekend. My little bird babies were so sweet, they left me alone the entire time, then when I woke after a couple of hours, I called them to me, they came over and only then hopped all over me and nibbled me. I discovered my ankles are ticklish  as little budgie feet walked and little beaks nibbled. Bo finds my toes quite the thing to have a long conversation with and beak bump  :/

birds nibble sometimes it's probably fine
if it's really bothering/hurting you you can try to train him to not bite but a budgie isn't very big so he can't cause real damage

I have a weird question about a Lorikeet. Is it possible that a bird can choose you as a mate?

My Lorikeet is so sweet one minute and then out of nowhere very bitey but most of the time during the month other than the couple days he is bitey he just tries to um do stuff to my arm.
Someone told me that it might be because he sees me as a mate.
If so, is there anyway to help him with that other than getting him a girlfriend?

Yes, birds can definitely choose you or mistake you as a mate. Although I’ve never personally experienced this, I’ve heard lots of advice along the lines of distracting the bird when it exhibits mating behaviour towards you. Make something else interesting to them, or find other ways to discourage their behaviour from continuing. (:

You can try for the same gender as your bird. often they are more calm with same gender and an other bird than alone.

But get atleast an second bird...look around i you find breeder or good shelter, who after health testing of your bird and theres should already tested and healthy or with same health Problems as your bird... can pair your bird with one of theres. This is terrible wrong and not healthy behavior from birds keeped alone and going in wrong way, and most often even handfeed by human not there parents. You need to stop this asap, bevor it get worse.

When thee Cage is small get a igger one, add more toys, dont accept this behavior and set bird asap done and go out of room....Train your bird to get ist brain working in other way.....and find companion birds...
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

Its normal, parrots get hormonal just like every other animal. I would just try to distract him when this happens as you don't want to encourage mating behavior. Make sure he gets lots of exercise, time out of his cage and a variety of toys.

Also some parrots can take petting, especially on their back, as sexual advancement. So maybe try focusing your scritches on his head area only for a while and see if that helps.

absolutely! my buddy has a ring-necked dove that thinks he is her mate. it's sweet, but can be a bit annoying.
it's just hormones. to try to prevent it, distract him with lots of toys and cool things and don't pet his back. )

edit: with my friend's (female) dove, it's just extra grooming/cuddling/etc. with a male bird, the behaviors can be more pronounced and might be a bit awkward or uncomfortable. gently push him off and/or spray bottle him (assuming he doesn't like to be sprayed) to discourage him. he can learn that you're not a mate, don't worry!

i've heard rejecting your bird if they see you as a mate can cause depression. my conure sees me as his mate but i kindly distract him whenever he gets overly friendly with a treat or a toy. just be very careful and when rejecting them! ♡
