Okay, here's my oppinion. I am fully prepared for backfire, but here goes nothin'.

Wolves are pretty cool animals. I believe, though it's just a theory, that humans are attracted to them because of their resemblance to dogs, which, subconciousley, makes you like them. People who hate dogs generally also hate wolves.

Wolves are no more, OR LESS, important than any other creature on the planet. Hunting animals for nothing other than sport and ego-gratification is wrong, no matter what the animal. Certain wolf species are endangered and need preservation efforts, and certain wolf species don't.

There should be no preservation efforts for the common grey wolves, as they don't need it, however that doesn't mean we have a right to shoot them willy nilly. Hunting is fine, so long as you use every bit of the animal that you can. Waste not, want not, after all.

Wolfaboos like wolves because it's COOL to like wolves. Same way it's cool to like Vampires. They've taken the coolness away from Vampires and wolves, and that's never going to change.

So guys, stop arguing. Different strokes for different blokes. Just live and let live.

Actually Im not a big fan of dogs...Im more it's cat person. I just find wolves beautiful. I've always loved them

Well I love wolves because I always have. Ever since I was at least seven I loved wolves. It irks me that people love wolves because it is cool. Wolves are to be respected, not thought of as "DAW IT'S SO CUTE I WANNA PET IT!!!" You can love and respect them, just don't mess with them in the wild unless (as stated above) it is respectful hunting of non-endangered species of wolves.

I am a ranch kid, and if any of you don't know what that means, it means I was raised around not liking wolves. I personally don't LOVE them or even really like them for that matter. I wouldn't like it if they went extinct, but I don't love them. Yes, they are beautiful, but everyone just thinks that they are the most wonderful animal on the planet. I personally think the people that want to have one as a pet, need to be put in a physiatric hospital. Wild animals should never be pets (Excluding Mustangs but different story). Wolves kill stock, around my area they kill stock just because they can. They kill cattle and sheep and don't take a bite out of the flesh, and just leave carcasses all over. My dad's friend had 17 cows in one week killed by wolves and none of them were eaten. Like I said, just my opinion.

Hm, I do know that ranchers don't like wolves as a whole, and mainly it's through misunderstanding of the animal. Wolves do kill livestock because they are not protected well enough by fencing and electric fencing, and they go to the effort of coming into human territory for the simple fact that livestock animals are easy to kill and there is less risk of them being injured or killed themselves. The reason why wolves kill a lot of livestock and do not eat it is because they want to come back and eat it if times are hard, it is a natural thing for the wolves, and livestock animals are the best animals to do that with because they are everywhere. In the wild, wolves rarely kill a few elk and just leave them there, they kill one because it takes a lot of effort just to bring down one.

Think about it, if you were a hungry wolf trying to stay alive in the unforgiving wilderness, and there was a herd of strong and experienced elk and on the other side was poorly enclosed, unexperienced sheep all in a bundle with no means of escape or defense, which would you go for? What would be safer? What would be the easiest? What could save your life?

I absolutely love wolves! I've loved them long before the internet and role-playing, though. When I was about 4 or 5, we went on a vacation to some place here, I don't remember, but it had all kinds of animals. No, it wasn't a zoo, more like an animal sanctuary. The wolves there were beautiful and graceful, so ever since I've been fascinated by them. Unfortunately that place is closed now. :c

And for those of you who love wolves a lot and can't find any website about them, go to wolfquest.org. It's really fun, and the game is so realistic.

I have had a terrible experience with that game, I don't even want to talk about it, but all I will say is this.

WolfQuest used to be an epic and educational game, but as soon as Cana took over from the previous administrator, everything was destroyed.
