She's just about two, and supposedly meant to live another two years. Bearing in mind though, I have been on a long camp, so she hasn't been given the usual fatty treats I give her, just her muesli!

If any animal drastically changes weight (loses/gains) then you need to get them to the vets ASAP,
just to make sure everything is okay. In gerbils, typically towards the end of their life, similar to a
lot of animals, they'll lose weight. This can be a result of tooth problems and kidney issues, so really
try and take him/her to the vet.

The babies are almost 4 weeks, they grew up so fast 😭. All are happy and healthy, 4 bucks and 3 does, none ended up orange rip. 5 black, 1 b&w 1 PEW. Sorry I didn’t post pics! At one point mom stopped feeding them and they had to be hand fed for a day or two, that was sooooo stressful but thankfully she suddenly started caring for them again. It was very weird. But anyway here’s an obnoxious amount of pictures
Image
Here’s them the day after the first pic I posted. They grew so much in one day! The three pink ones showed their colours the next day, rest in piece my hopes of orange mice.
Image Image
Two weeks old here, such sweethearts. Really fast considering they’re blind and have had legs for a very short amount of time.
Image
Here’s one at 3 weeks. A bunch of them are already wheel junkies like their dad haha. They still aren’t fully weaned here and that’s okay. The only solid foods they’ll touch are lettuce and seeds lol.

I can post or link more pics if you guys want, let me know!

Tell us about your pets: I'm a huge guinea pig enthusiast! I currently own three fantastic piggies. Aero, a 5 year old crested. Caesar my 4 1/2 y/o neutered male and Willow, my crested who's just under a year old now! They all live together in a 2x5 C&C cage.
Other: I pride myself on being very knowledgeable about guinea pigs! I'm excited about learning more about other types of rodents. c:

Favorite type of rodent: All of them! Currently own a rat.
Tell us about your pets: hershey is his name, being a spunky little man with hands is his game. And sitting weird under his water bottle.
Other: i recently bought food safe/grade silicone rat shaped baking molds and looking for rodent/rat safe treats i can make at home that i can give him. Each rat mold cavity (theres six of them to make six treats) are about 2/12 inches.

It’s been so long everyone but I have a quick question since googles being stubborn 😒
(Welcome new members)

**can I burn some sage in the same room as my rats..? should I leave a door open so it’s well ventilated? I could also move my rats temporarily whilst and after it is burning - if anyone knows thanks!

I would suggest moving them before and temporarily after since rats have a very strong sense of smell and can also easily be put into respitory distress. This is the same reason why a lot of other people suggest not to use scentsy's, insense or air freshener around them too.

And even if it might be okay, its better to be safe then sorry and move them just to ensure the smell doesn't stress them out in on itself.

Rats have a sensitive respiratory system and sage is strong. Since its already not recommended to burn strong candles/incense around them, I highly suggest you do not burn sage with them around at all. It's not worth the risk, in my opinion.
