I got some fancy guppies today ^^ Four females, and two males. I know a lot of people won't agree with this, but we got them so if they have babies, we can offer live food to our axolotl, Fluffy. I'm actually having a lot of fun with them ^^ They have a lot more personality than I thought they would. I even moved their tank to my night stand because I love watching them so much!
As far as my other fish go, I have two bettas, a male and a female, the axolotl (not really a fish, but oh well), five ghost shrimp (two males, three females), two african dwarf frogs (a male and a female), and a golden mystery snail. I love aquatic animals very much c: The rest of my family doesn't really care for them, but it isn't unusual for me to have four or five tanks running at a time, lol!

While I personally wouldn't do that, I really like the idea. ^^ It is healthier for your axolotl. You'll get PLENTY(believe me). It will be cheaper than continuing to buy more food. Also, you can control what the food is exposed to, rather than at a store, you never know.
Nice plan. ^^ Dia approves.

If I could, I wouldn't feed him live food, but he can't seem to find regular food, and he needs to eat xD I've tried frozen food, dried shrimp (which he ate at first, but now he spits out

), and algae pellets. I wanted to get regular feeder fish so maybe I wouldn't go attached, haha, but I remember in Kindergarten when we had guppies and maan, those babies. So mom decided we needed to go with guppies. I won't feed ALL of the babies, so I'm kind of excited to see how this goes!

Just a warning about normal feeder fish, you never know what they've been exposed to. Some of them might have some kind of parasite or disease you wouldn't want to feed him. ^^
You might get some really pretty babies out of the ones you keep. o3o Maybe try to feed the ones that don't appear to be so healthy? That's what I suggest. :3

Yeah, haha, that was one of my concerns. Especially because my mom wanted to keep the fish with Fluffy. I convinced her out of letting them share his tank, because fish tend to nibble on axolotl gills, but... Yeah. I would have to be pretty careful, and definately look carefully for illness and things. Ahh well xD I got some awesome guppies, anyway!
That's a good idea! If they're weak, they probably wouldn't end up living too long, anyway.

AAAGH! This darn brown algae in my community tank is going to drive me up the wall! I have increased water changes to 20% three times a week. Any more, and I am worried I might stress the biological filter. Nitrates are a little high, but not terrible. All other readings are normal. Just this stupid brown algae growing on every available surface!

Okay, so I now have 5 neon tetras but my black Molly sometimes chases them around. Also one of the 5 likes to stay in one place and isn't nearly as active as the others, does it just need time to adjust? Also for my khuli loach, is the darker it's color the healthier it is? He's a really dark coffee brownish/black color. He started out a light milk chocolate color. The change in color is good I presume?

Do you have live plants? Live plants are great at competing with algae. Otherwise, brown algae is a sign of lights being to low, green algae is more common in tanks with higher lighting. Try adding some low-light loving plants like wisteria, anubus, lace java fern, or moss balls.
You can't really stress the biological filter. =) Its very common for discuss to be kept in grow out tanks by breeders with 100% water changes everyday, but they still manage to have a completely cycled tank. Removing water does not to the bacteria as long as is kept moist and warm.
I got my Blue Acara and she's coloring up more and more everyday. Her stress stripes are gone and she's settled in beautifully. <3
http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv97 ... ara_11.jpg She's nearly two inches long and so freaking cute. I can't wait until she's a monster 5+ inch fish.
http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv97 ... ara_21.jpg Excuse the dirty sand, my filter hates me.
http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv97 ... _shot1.jpg Full tank shot. My cichlids have been moving things, that piece of wood should be touching sand.. D:<
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe
