I have 5 lovely little silkies, a japanese bantam hennie, 8 d'uccle x bantams, a pb d'uccle roo and a frizzle hyline in one pen and 8 hyline browns, 2 plymouth rocks, two blue orphingtons and my beautiful frizzle roo Mr Sizzles in my standard chicken pen.
I did try to breed silkies for showing last year but unfortunately found out we have mareks disease in our flock so that put an end to that project sadly.
I love my chickens so much. I even drive 6 hours for their veterinary care.

I love Japanese and d'uccles! I have yet to meet a mean d'uccle lol.
Marek's sucks, I'm sorry your dealing with that. I have had a Marek's scare before, luckily it was relatively easy to deal with. I hope you have luck with your silky project.
I've always wanted to have silkies in my flock. I did order one time but unfortunately the heater that was attached to the side of the box wasn't tied on tight enough and it crushed them :(. It was definitely a sad package to open. If chicken math happens soon, which it will, I will probably get some buff silkies from a different seller because there such a unique breed.

Why are you joining: I love chickens! And ducks… and quail…. And turkeys… and geese…
Favorite poultry bird: CHICKENS! My favorites are Black Copper Marans, Olive Eggers, Welsummers, Swedish Flower Hens, Barnevelders, and I have a soft spot for production layers.
Other: I also love ducks, geese, quail, turkeys— I don’t think there’s a poultry variety I wouldn’t love to raise!

she now has a sapphire gem, silver laced wyandotte, and a speckled sussex =v=
I have multiple broody hens rn too. My bantam silver phoenix named rick (i got a bantam cubalaya game hen named morty cuz she looks so anxious lol, their a pair) wont stop harassing me when I take the eggs from her. She does this terrible high pitched squawk😭 and puffs up like a feather duster. fortunatly she dosent maul my hands like a lot of other hens. I'm thinking i might let her hatch some eggs out if she stays broody because I cant just go through a spring without seeing baby chicks.
Speckled sussex are great! I had a couple before and one of them was the sweetest bird. She would wait for me to leave the house every morning just so i could greet her and she loved attention.
