Yes, that is how it works. The ich parasites are negatively affected by changes in salinity, so the water changes also help to keep the saline level yoyoing for the best effect on them. Not only will most ick medicines turn your water blue or stain your decorations/plants, I've had previously healthy fish start gasping and die from the fizzy "medicine" tablets. I always use salt for ick. The only thing I'll use a comercialized medicine for is velvet.

My Tiger Barb keeps aattacking my Comet Goldfish. Is it a Territory thing?

And I understand that I shouldn't have a Comet in a Ten Gallon but my stupid brother got it from a Carnival and I'm still trying to find someone to take it in. He's only like 2 inches right now, but still. x.x

I've heard tiger barbs are really bad tempered if kept in too small schools, plus have tendancy to fin nip, alot...

About my swords: Looking back some pictures. They actually started out with less leaves than now, but they were relatively tall(15 cm maybe). Then I remember those tall leaves die one by one(they started to go brown from the tip/edge of the leaf) over long period of time. In May it seems that the shorter leaves started to dominate. And currently both have one or two longer leaves, which I'm hoping will still grow some more, and good bunch of leaves at the ground level...

I also got refils for my nitrate test. :D Yay, I haven't been able to test that for months. Turns out it's only around 5(for plants that's bit low I think), and the tank is due it's weekly water change tomorrow. Not to mention when my corries were sick I had the water tested out in a store and then the nitrate was 25, after 50% change the previous day. So, yeah I've been strict with the feeding ever since and obviously it shows. ^^
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

We got two new plants! c: One for the betta/guppy tank that I don't know what it is because it was just floating loosely at the top of the tank in the pet store unlabeled. And the other one is a... argh, I'm blanking out on the name! >.< But anyway, that second one is in the African Clawed frog tank. c: Yay, I love buying plants <3

Hime - When the leaves slowly turn brown like that, the plants are pulling nutrients from the more established leaves because it's not getting enough. I still recommend the root tabs, they might surprise you. (:

I have found that my bichir loves it when I turn the filter off, whether to feed him or if he just seems too stressed.

if I leave the filter on for more than a few days he turns pale grey and lays on his side breathing heavily until I turn off the filter and let him settle again, then he turns a dark slate color with beige stripes and is extremely active, running around the bottom and then shooting up to get a breath of air and then he in down under again.

do you think the filter is too much circulation and its not allowing him to fill his lungs(most fish have swim bladders but bichirs have a right and left lung just like land animals, thus they cannot stay under water for more than an hour or two at the most). the filter is for a 10-25 gallon, and its filtering a 30 gallon. there is no other waterflow other than that, and he stresses when its on...

My two snails, both Gold Incas, won't breed. I think they're the same gender xc
