Like I said. Kids, never listen to my brother. Then again, in first grade it made sense. Hmm, big ugly dog made another big dog. Okay then. I do like wolves, but they are just wolves. Not gods.

Hurr, this was posted a page ago, but I really just wanna join this conversation and must get annoying here~

Hyena's are a completely seperate species to dogs. They're NOT canines, and honestly I only actually found that out recently. However, they're not 'weasels' either, Hyena's are more-or-less their own species, with maybe one or two reasonably close relatives. But Dobermans come from Germany where I'm pretty sure there aren't any Hyenas, so your brother is probably lieing to you. xD

Anyway, on the topic of wolves.

Wolves are beautiful and powerful creatures, like almost every other animal on the planet. If you shoot a wolf, you should have a reason. The only reason I see to shoot any animal is for self-preservation or protection of family/neighbours/ect. Living over here in boring old England, we don't really have any interesting 'wild' animals - about the best we've got is foxes. :P But no animal should be killed for any reason other than protection of human life. Killing for sport or recreation is wrong.
However I do understand there ARE people who hunt wolves, and other animals, for sport and yet care for the species itself. I understand the earlier mentioning of people having to use as much of whatever they kill as possible, no animal life should be wasted.
In the same way though I disagree even with killing wolves for protection of people. We've a ridiculousley overpopulated species, and that's the truth. Though I am a bit of a misanthrope so don't shoot me. xD (See what I did there?)

What really gets me is people who like wolves just for the sake of it. You'll see people who love wolves because - well, they love wolves. People such as Zarago, who clearly respect and love these creatures. But then you get all the fantards who like wolves just because it makes them look cool, and I strongly disagree with that.

So there's my input. xD *crawls into a hole and hides from people who will probably start yelling at me*

I agree with you.

Hyena's are of their own group, named "hyaenidae", they are not canines nor felines, and certainly are not related to the dobermann/doberman.

I do not agree with shooting wolves for sport, or mass-culling. I highly dislike people who feel that animals are very much lower than us just because they cannot speak in human words, which apparently means that they have no feelings and are just a problem that humans want to remove. And yes, we are a rediculously overpopulated species, and the majority of us are simply waste of spaces (your average joe walking down the street with a stained white vest and short trousers). So to kill an animal just "because it might" is utterly stupid. Animals are going to kill humans, you can't stop them from wanting to protect themselves or eat, and humans are going to kill animals, along with their own species because of anger and basically, nothing else to do. We kill far more animals than wolves (and all animals altogether) kill people, and we think that's fine.

And yush, I live in England too, and our main predator is a fox, a fox, which is a problem animal, killing more chickens than they need and leaving the rest to rot. Let's hope the project in Alledale is successful, and Britains top predator is restored to it's rightful place in the highlands.

I don't mind people drawing wolves in a cartoon-ish way, but I dislike people making them demonic in drawings, and making them look "cool". Wolves are already cool enough, in their own subtle way that many people do not see, nor believe.

And, thank you for saying such a nice thing about meh, doesn't usually happen I assure you (especially on this topic)!

You're right, they do not want to believe it, and nobody will convince them if they are too stubborn to want to learn the truth.

Wow is this ever going to be a huge comment. xD Anyway, first off, your welcome. :3

Second - yes, foxes can be getting to be a problem, but even so a fox is the same in the wolf in that respect. Yes, they're disrupting humanity in some way or another, like wolves, but we as humans must remember that just because we have thumbs doesn't mean we're better than every other animal on the planet, wolves AND foxes.

What I meant by my earlier thing about people liking wolves for the sake of it are people who make a bazillion sparklewolf fursonas, only ever RP as wolves (and badly), have wolves pasted in their signature, trade rules, ect., some even say that they ARE a wolf. Those are the people that give wolf lovers a bad name. If you don't care about an animals as a species then don't tell everyone you love it. There's more to loving an animal than just obsessing over it. :/

Unlike wolves, foxes aren't very nervous creatures (especially the urban ones), and are a constant menace to people keeping chickens. Wolves will give up if they know that something is not easily accessible, and that they think that it will take just as much effort trying to get to the animals as it will hunting one. Foxes on the other hand, are constantly trying to break through your barriers, and when they succeed, they will kill every chicken they can. Wolves can kill one or two large livestock animals if they get in, but do not often do so, and just take one animal, eat it there, and leave unless they have pups to feed, in that case they will take some more food back in their mouths if they are older pups. They are few cases of wolves "mass killing" and they are often lone wolves that are overwhelmed by the amount of animals in one space, and go on a "feeding frenzy", but unlike foxes, they do not do this much at all.

And yes, there is a distinct difference between being obsessed with an animal and just like them because you like their looks, and not actually taking action to help them.

This is what I've said before. People saying they are wolves ect. No, you're not. You're a human. o.o It's as bad as someone I knew who used to say they went into the woods near where I live and talk to all the animals. About all of the animals we had in the woods where the odd bird and insect anyway, but you get my point. D_D

I like wolves. If they are becoming a problem for farmers because of killing livestock, then someone should trap them and put them in a wildlife park or a zoo. Anything as long as they live.

I think they think the wolf symbolizes "the wild", and they also like wolves until it becomes an obsession, which is when they claim that they are a wolf or sometimes a werewolf.

It's stupid, really.

Well, that's even worse than death for a wolf, they want to be wild, not trapped in an enclosure surrounded by their worst enemies, human beings.
