Well, it shows that they have the capacity to care about their loved ones just like we do. That's also why I think wolf hunting is that much more devastating: their devastated families. I forgot where, but it was somewhere on deviantart. It was reliable. They also don't mate for life, if a mate dies, they just look for another one. "Not showing affection" is a badly worded phrase, I don't think they love their mates too much, but they do show affection. They even occasionally leave their mates in search for a new one.

Let me ask you something; Why do you care about wolves so much? Would you care if all bison were to die?
