sup guys,,
i've been wanting to get a rodent for so long now, but the last time i asked [last year], my dad wouldn't let me.
he said i had to be more responsible, and also my family goes off on holidays each year during the summer, so during the summer holidays i'd have no time to look after a rodent.
my mam has promised me she'd let me get a betta fish after summer holidays this year, but now i've started to change my mind and i'd like to ask for mice again. i think i'm more responsible than i was last year, and i've been trying so hard to be kind to my siblings and look after my dog.
i'd be so happy to get some little rodent friends!

the cage i have my eye on is this one, and if i've done my calculations correct i think its 630~ sq inches, which would be enough for three females, but im may be only getting two, because my friend told me that two of them could gang up and hurt the other one which im not quite sure is true.

anyways, another reason for only getting two is that they'd have more space for toys and things. if theres any other big cages that are relatively cheap [30-50 euro] please let me know!

The cage is more commonly known as the 'Alaska' cage. It is one of the most commonly reviewed small-rodent cage, so if you're dead set on it, I'd suggest looking it up. Zooplus sells the Alaska cage for 8 quid cheaper than on Amazon and can be found here. The Alaska cage is designed for one syrian hamster but works great for three female mice.
Female mice should ideally be kept in groups of three, not two. Like rats, one more doesn't really affect the price and should fit nicely in 631sq. The mice won't likely gang up on one, especially if you get them from the same litter.
Bin cages are very cheap depending on where you are getting them from, and much easier to clean that most cages. And Aspen is 100% safe on mice, disregarding of if its designed to be snake bedding or any other rodent bedding.

my hamster, baloo.
i just recently adopted him through my veterinary program at college.
he is an ex-research lab hamster. the sweetest thing ever though!
he's a golden syrian. and his wheel is his favorite thing ever.
he lives in a diy bin i made him so he has plenty of floor space.

my mouse baby keeps making noises when he breathes and I’m afraid he’s sick,
maybe something like a cold. but, I’ve just brought him to the vet and she told
me his breathing was better from the last visit and he seemed healthy overall.
so I don’t understand. maybe he could just having breathing issues?

I’m scared, and am not sure what to do.

I haven’t noticed him sneezing it sniffling, nor is anything out of the ordinary
on him, just noises when he’s breathing sometimes. not necessarily a squeak,
but. like. heaving? I don’t know how to explain it. Not accurately.

If you do not think your vet care and opinion was sufficient, I'd suggest taking the mouse to a different vet for a second opinion.

i would really want one or a few but my mom is so scared of them the closest that i owned that is a rodent are bunnies she still doesnt kinda like them but she eventually got attached and liked them although she doesnt really like anything that closely looks like a rat so she doesnt like hamsters guinea pigs and etc :')
