Reptiles - Geckos, Lizards, Snakes, and Turtles!

Mine usually come over when I take the lid off because they think they're being fed. XD It's the funniest thing!
Sometimes they do that when I hold them, they're like *lick*. <3

Dry, dust free substrates work best for leopard geckos. Heat-treated aspen chips (Sani Chips) are highly recommended. Sand may be used, but it is somewhat of a risk for the average gecko keeper. Most problems with impaction and dehydration are seen with animals housed on sand, and as such it is not recommended.

If you're having shedding issues, yet have a humid hide, then you should switch your substrate. As mentioned, sand can cause dehydration which in return causes shedding issues. Sand IS risky, something may not have happened yet, and may not in the future, but the chance is still there. I for one don't like to gamble with my pets' odds.

And I wouldn't take your leo into a cooler part of the house. Reptiles should not be exposed to colder temperatures, they're extremely sensitive to different tempts. A simple warm bath could do that trick.

I use carpet too...
I know they aren't supposed to be in cold places, but they are fine if you are holding them as you are very warm. They are from a desert and it gets to be like 40 degrees (F) at night so it's ok...

Her name is Fig. xD

I used to have one named issac but he died like a day after i got him.. (he was a firebelly newt)

Ya they arent reptiles but they are like reptiles!! xD

Yea I like to think of newts being in the lizard famaliy ^--^ I'm thinking of getting a new one later in life, but I might get a leopard gecko......
