Hey hunters! I've got a weird semi-ontopic question for ya.

My animals like to play with scraps of pelts of various animals, but I'm looking for big ones that you can use to play with a good sized dog. How much do you usually see those going for, and how can I make sure the animal in question was killed humanely? I've been buying scraps for the cat from someone local who makes coats and things out of what he catches but he never has any scraps large enough to give to a dog the size of a GSD or Doberman.

There your looking for a deer, bear, wolf or coyote. Deer & beer I'm not sure, however wolf pets are anywhere from $200 to $500 and anything after 500 still. Coyote a little less. If you want SCRAPS you can ask a big game hunter or a taxidermist, it may have to be shipped but if they're nice enough it'll be cheap - too free

I found somewhere that has deer and coyote scraps :] I don't want the whole piece, just bits of it. The cat's scraps are about the size of a dollar and cost me 50c, but a dog would be able to swallow them easily which is why I want some bigger ones for the dog. Thanks!

Just tossing my opinion in here for a moment as a hunter.
Trapping for re-release, such as wildlife needing to be relocated, is acceptable.
No damage to the animal, minor stress, and it's for their well-being.
Trapping as a method of hunting though, is wrong in my opinion.
Such as the ankle traps. The animal is liable to be left in that trap for days at a time and by the time they're found by the 'hunter' who set out said trap their meat has gone bad and they can't be used, thus leaving the death to be pointless.

Hunting;
My views on hunting are quite simple.
If you kill it. Eat it.
Or give it to someone who will.
Just don't waste it.
I also find gun hunting to be more humane as there is a higher chance of an insta-kill rate. No suffering.
Though bow hunting can be just as successful in capable hands.

Alright. I'm done. Hope this makes as much sense to others as it did to me and I didn't make myself look like a complete butt online.

I think I would agree with hunting when there is no farming. I disagree with farming also but do we really need to farm and hunt? It's bad enough killing animals, at least with hunting animals get a better life however I will only agree with hunting if farming is gone.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

Let's be realistic, if we were to abolish farming and depend on hunting alone then we WOULD hunt species to extinction. There is no way wild game alone could support the entire worlds population.

I understand that, that is why people would have to stop eating so much meat. People eat to much meat according to scientists so it would be healthy for people to stop eating so much meat. It would be hard, obviously, but people would be able to survive, vegetarians do, they are generally healthier, obviously I am not saying everyone should veggie.

Many animals in farms suffer, it's a big welfare issue in many ways, even freerange is not the best way of life for an animal. Farming causes more C02 than planes, trains and cars together so we would be saving the planet, well helping it a lot. It takes up so much of the coutryside and causes people to get health issues when they eat too much meat so it's a good thing.

Obviously we would have to be careful about what was hunted. Only take what is needed and don't waste food. We would have to eat meats of animals that there is many of and maybe animals that have overpopulated because of some reason.

It's differcult and hard but is not impossible.
