Hm. I sense another debate coming this way. ono

They do have feelings, they do have families, they do have packs, etc, yes. They do. But wolves aren't sentiment creatures, so that's not a very good point.

Yes, they're beautiful. That doesn't mean they can't be killed. Hell, pigeons are beautiful. But someone has to shoot them daily to keep them from giving our horses diseases. Something being 'pretty' isn't a reason not to kill it. Sorry, but it's the truth. D:

I agree with aeiou. They've killed many humans. They've also killed many many prey animals. It's not always to survive, either. Google surplus killing.

Now, I'm not trying to change your opinion on hunting. You don't have to like it, and I respect that. Agree to disagree.
What I am trying to do is change your opinion on hunters. We're not all bloodthirsty, disgusting, cruel, mean, blah like some people think.

I also don't really understand how wolves are permitted to kill any animal they like, but it's automatically wrong when humans kill wolves.

Any one read the book by Jim Brandenburg (might have miss spelled last name) called "White wolf: living with an arctic legend" It's a REALLY good book (well i'v never really read the whole thing,) but is has amazing pictures! (it's a non fiction book) There is this one wolf in the pack, Scruffy, the Omega. I named my dog after him :D but my dog is a girl... and her fur is black not white...... anny way..... if you have not read it and love pictures of amazing white wolves, you should get it from the library! <3

Healthy wolves do not hunt people or children without the human being in the wrong, they have a natural fear of humans. The only accounts of wolves killing humans have been that they were either mentally I'll for example might have rabies or the human has been mistaken for prey e.g there was a case a woman was killed by two wolves when jogging, there was little prey and the woman was running which triggered a chase from the wolves. As for hunting children, they don't go into human settlements and prey on children. I'm not saying they havn't killed children but they do not hunt them, the children may had accidentally been in the wrong place at the wrong time. During the domestication of wolves to dog lots of people may had Bern killed but if you are bringing a wild wolf into you home or tent, you can't expect it to be tame and it will sti have it's natural instinct. But overall wolves don't naturally prey on humans and concider them food. It has been a big theory for years but has been found untrue. :)

No, actually, they do. There have been reports (I think I can find where I read them, but it may have been a book.) where a healthy wolf casually lopes out and drags a human child away.

Humans, without weapons, are stupidly easy prey. All they have to do is knock us down. Predators go for the easiest, weakest prey naturally and sometimes that's us.

Well, I think we do that every single day, everything you eat that comes from an animal. We cannot expect to always take out the weakest and then be shocked when that happens to us once in forever.

I agree with aeiou, we are easy prey and cannot expect to be an exception to nature itself.

Lolwhut..? Sorry but that does not make any sense. Who's population is completely out of control? Hmm, take a guess, wolves or humans. I think it's pretty obvious;

human population: 7,003,019,800- grows by 212,035 every single day..
wolf population: about 10,000 wolves in the wild today..

Tell me now.. who seems 'out of control'?

And 'wolves can kill any animal they want'..? I really do not think so, when one kills a human, oh the drama.. is still around 40 years after the attack.

Well we kill any animal [we can kill any animal apparently..] who makes a fuss? Oh, we just have some nice ham or chicken and won't even care.

What really makes me sick is hunting trophies..

As for something else you said, Van; about surplus killing and killing for fun; this should clear your point c:

Wolves, like all wild carnivores, do not kill for sport. They kill to sustain themselves. Though it is uncommon, “surplus killing” (killing more prey animals than can be immediately consumed) has been observed in many predator species. If given the opportunity to secure future meals, many animals will sometimes do so. It is a survival mechanism. It is this survival tactic that has led to the misplaced notion of “sport killing” arises. It has nothing to do with sport. Only people kill for sport.

Just wanted to clear that up,

Yes. Humans are over populated. What can you do about it? Go around shooting random people? I don't think so. I mean, sure, you could do that if you wanted to, but I'm not hoping to become a serial killer, don't know about you. Do what ever you want with your life, though.
And I never said wolf populations were 'completely out of control', don't put words in my mouth.

Wolves are indeed overpopulated, though. If you want, I can post those links again since it seems your probably didn't see them.
Of course, I'm sure you'll just reply with 'humans are more over populated' again. But like I said, there's no helping that. Might as well control the populations you can and save the environment a little at a time.

Also, I wasn't talking about humans. I was talking about animals.
Wolves hunt animals, and so do humans. It's the same.

I kind of find your little 'it makes me sick' comment offensive. :/ you don't have to like it, but don't attack the people that disagree with you/take part in the hunting.

I'm also aware that surplus killing =/= killing for fun.
Wiki for surplus killing-
They may partially consume, cache, or abandon intact prey. This behavior has been observed in zooplankton, damselfly naiads, predaceous mites, weasels, honey badgers, wolves, orcas, red foxes, spotted hyenas, spiders, brown bear, lynx, mink, house cats, and humans.
