may i ask where you did got the leash? i did see one like this but in red some time ago but did forgot where...it was made with climbing rope i think^^

Thanks! We've been taking longer walks each day and he's been super excited about it lol. I can barely make him go back in afterwards. And yeah, his leash is made with climbing rope- he chewed through his last two, but this one seems to be holding up okay so far. I'm pretty sure it's this one from amazon ^^

Charlie's a golden! His previous owners did claim he was purebred, but we think he might have a bit of lab in him too

what kind of dog do you have? i don't remember you ever introducing yours C:

lucky is learning skip (like limp with both paws alternating) and we're having alot of fun with it!
i was training him that today and then suddenly he turned and quickly moved away from me and to the corner of the room,
nipping near his rear. his ears were back and i called him over and when i checked behind him he had a super tiny tiny piece
of tape stuck to the fur on his back leg near his tail  idk how he even felt that! i thought something was wrong with him
but nope he just sat on tape haha

I have two dogs. One is a 6 year old Jack Chi and the other is a 20 or so week old full bred Chihuahua. I would love a large dog but my family doesn't seem so keen. Still love them to bits though :)

There's cons and pros to them at any age - yet fixing early will damage the dog a lot more than if fixed later on.

I'm sorry to hear that people were giving you a hard time about something that wasn't even your fault and for what your vet did! (I assume Ex vet?) ~My heart goes out to you, that poor pup! D:

I think it would help if others didn't jump at others throats and assume things without knowing their situation.

If I stayed in my current state I'd probably have to figure something out because like your family mine would probably do something similar. We plan on moving in a year or two though so if it's beneficial I could keep Wick intact.

There are pros and cons to everything but what is most important is making an educated decision vs one made of fear and heresay. <3 Do the leg work, take a good look at your circumstances, and make the best desicion with all the info available.

For us Sardonyx turned 2 years old, her growth plates had all closed so the increase in ortho issues was nulled. While not a sound temperment her personality was set and unlikely to be altered (but I wont lie and say we didnt deal with a sudden shift due to hormone fluctuation. For several weeks she was way more likely to guard objects, go after the cats, hump, and generally be a butthole but all of that tapered off and stopped). Females are at risk of uterine infections after heat cycles and she was higher risk because she was prone to false pregnancies. Dogs can get reproductive cancers that altering nullifies. Besides just not wanting to deal with two intact dogs it just made sense for us and we felt, given her age, the pros outweighed the cons.

Sentry is 1 and a couple months or so and is intact. As of now, even being the gross boy he is, theres no currant plans to have him nuetered... even if we threaten him daily with it. That could change! Hes young, healthy, and has no issues. Lump checks are part of grooming and a wee bit easier on boys, lol. If a medical issue popped up or circumstances changed I wouldnt have any qualms about nuetering him. :)

Yes. Ex Vet!
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

What are some good ways of toning up dogs and increasing their fitness levels?
We've gotten lazy over winter and walking isn't enough for Lyra, so she's gotten a tad pudgy and I want to get her lean and active again.

We might be going on a 15 mile charity walk in April and I'd like to make sure she can handle it.

I'd love to start bikejoring or trail riding with her since she's amazing at it but she's just too loud and over the top when running with the bike and I don't want to annoy anyone, but I'm not sure where to start at getting her to behave with it either.

Finally started working on stay with Octavia today. As you can see, it went great! She’s such a good girl, probably helps that I make her wait for a release cue before leaving her kennel. So she’s use to waiting for the cue, that seems to be translating well to stay.

So I need help finding something, if anybody here could help it, Inwould appreciate it!!

Anyways I am looking for an explanation of prong collar use, NOT THE LEERBURG method. The prong theory that is based upon prong corrections mimicking the mother dog scruffing the puppy. I have literally found one video on it, but no articles.

Here’s the one video I found, but it’s doesn’t really explain how to give corrections with this method of prong use:

Don’t recommend the Leerburg method, I am not doing that to my dog, sorry.

Trained and maintained actually keeps the collar low and loose which is dangerous for the dog's neck.
They also use a martingale like attachment in the front, so as they correct the dog, it chokes on the front
and they say corrects the dog like its mother on the back of the neck with the prongs.

By keeping the prong loose, it causes uneven pressure so a correction could put all the pressure on one
side of the dog, causing extreme pain.

Please keep the prong snug at the top of the dogs neck, this evens out the pressure and actually STOPS
pain. It just gives an even pressure to the dog if it pulls, instead of an uneven sudden pain to the side of
the neck if the prong is loose.

edit : for example, take a rubber band and put it on ur wrist, keep it loose and suddenly yank it, it
will quickly cause pain and your entire arm to jolt quickly. Now, wrap the rubber band around your
wrist so its snug and yank it, there will be an even amount of pressure and your arm will be gently pulled
int the direction you're tugging in.
