Just marking the new thread!

I love seeing everyone’s pictures! If I have some time, I’ll upload new ones of G Nothing much has changed with us, although he got a new cave bed for christmas and loves it. We’re still competing in conformation and agility, and he’s doing great. I’ll try to update soon!

oh my what breed is he? he is absolutely adorable!

A feist/terrier type mix probably. Found in the boonies of the deep south usa in an area full of hunting/farm/utility type mongrels, lol. Feists are fairly common here and generally unheard of in a lot of other places. Theyre kind of like... curs in the sense that they can be both a mix (tight lipped, large, hunty dog) and considered pure (Black Mouth Cur), more a type generally. Mountain Feists and Treeing Feists are both breeds but 'feist' is a small medium, long legged, erect eared, deep chested, tenacious squirrel/small game dog.

I'd never heard of feist's before even when I lived in the south. But my dad was not a dog person and I was super little so that's not really a surprise. Interesting looking dog though.

For me it's:

1. Border Collie
2. Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue/Red Heeler)
3. Australian Shepherd & Miniature American(/Australian) Shepherd


There's also a lot of Jack Russell Terriers (& Parson Russells).

-german shepherds
-labs
-catahoula leopard dogs are pretty common, even though i am not in louisianna
-boxers
-pit bulls

though there are way more mutts than purebred dogs in my area, due to the amount of rescues and shelters. i think it's great that people are rescuing dogs and giving great pups a second chance at life <3 i love the amount of compassion people in my area have for animals

Feists really arent widely known outside of 'the good old boys' type groups even though they are an american foundation breed/type.

What breeds are most common where you live?

where i live, labrador retrievers and golden retrievers are definitely the most common. then comes huskies and alaskan malamutes, then probably australian shepherds and border collies, and after that, it would have to be the smaller of the terriers, like the boston terrier, yorkshire terrier, you get the gist... oh, and i can't forget! chihuahuas are pretty popular here. ohhhhhh and german shepherds are probably tied with the labs and goldies.
