Hi all! I just found this thread and thought i would post!! I currently have 2 ferrets! Dodge is a male that is about 2 year old I rescued him from a bad owner who left him and his brother alone for long periods of time, sometimes as long as 4-5 months!! I also have a female named Freya who is a little less than a year!! Sadly Dodger's brother, Oliver had to be put to sleep about a month ago due to illness.
Here are a few pics!
Freya

Freya is a tiny little girl coming in at about 1.5 pounds!
Dodger

Dodger is a moose! He weighs about 6.5 pounds!
And Oliver (Rest in Peace) It has been a month since he passed

They are all adorable!!! I love your little boys mask, I am hoping to find a little masked rescue in the future when I am ready for another ferret. Oliver was a beautiful boy, I am sorry to hear he had to be put to sleep.
How does Dodger and Freya get along? Their age difference is pretty wide, especially since Freya is basically still a kit and Dodger is an adult. I do know males and females are easier to introduce together. I am hoping in the future to get a female companion for Gambit and been researching introductions and learning from people. My friend has done introductions four times, so far most play well together but they can't be caged together. But those were female introductions, not male on female introductions.

They get along great! We keep them in separate cages cus dodger lays on top of Freya and we worry about him suffocating her(cause of the huge weight difference). We first got Oliver and Dodger because 1. they were being neglected and 2. Freya's brother had died and she was incredibly depressed. But yeah Freya and Dodger are great together! You couldnt even tell that they have only been together about 6 months! They act like they have been life time friends! Although they do like to team up on me and attack my feet! They are great little guys!! And make me laugh constantly.

Oh so you had Freya first! Alright, well I am glad they get along so well. I hope my future introductions go just as smoothly. Gambit is pretty big and heavy as well, I forgot to ask the vet his weight when we went in last week; he had to be dropped off for the day since there were no appointment slots and I was worried about him. I am going in tomorrow or Monday and will ask them to weigh him then, I really want to know!
Also Freya is a beautiful name, I really love it. Was Dodger and Oliver by any chance named after Oliver in Company. The Dodger and Oliver the cat?

Ferrets do have a musky odor, which is worse when they aren't neutered or spayed. But honestly they don't stink to me at all. I like their smell. There are ways to help with their scent, minimizing it. Like a good diet, cleaning their litterbox twice a day, cleaning/washing cage and bedding one a week. I agree doesn't bother me.
