Most 'exotic' pet you've ever owned?

I worked at a museum so they gave me a rock hyrax to tame, managed to tame him but once I left the museum they put him back with the wild ones so he reverted back to being wild. Probably for the best.

I have two lesser siren salamanders

Not me directly but a close (indirect siblings friend) had a pet sugar glider and a hermit crab. One time the sugar glider aimed at me when I was eating some lucky charms- thankfully I didnt spill my food lol. (Dont have an update about any other ones)

I’ve owned a few different types over the years as well as had the opportunity to work with a bunch of exotics as well as domestic pets which gave me a quick insight into what I wanted to deal with and what I didn’t

Generally if you don’t count fish, the most exotic pet I have ever owned is probably one of the many various types of reptiles I’ve owned. I’ve owned 2 turtles, 12 crested geckos, 1 ball python, 1 Colombian red-tail boa (Bci), 1 bearded dragon, and 1 ornate club tailed iguana. If you count fish then I’ve owned several different types of fresh water fish including several types of fresh water shrimp although I have a main affinity for bettas and guppies. I also owned a Quaker parrot/Quaker parakeet when I was younger, domestically I’ve owned mainly dogs and cats (with the most “exotic” being a Russian Blue).

Now I just have dogs and my two turtles, although if you asked I’m sure I could easily drum up a dream list longer than it should be of exotics I’d love to own

A few years ago we took in a pair of older sugar gliders! Their owners couldn't keep them because they were moving across country. They were very cute but required a lot of specialized care. We had a pouch that you could wear to keep them in sometimes! They enjoyed it and I'm glad we could take care of them for what time they had left.

my mom's always told me about and showed me some pictures of her raccoon from her childhood, she found him as a baby and raised him. she even brought him to school in a box under her desk when my grandma couldn't watch him loll. probably my favorite story from her and the raccoon was when her sister (my aunt) locked her in a closet (they were playing in the 80s idk man) and mom's raccoon attacked my aunt to defend mom. good boy raccoon! as far as i know the raccoon lived a long and happy life being a little house gremlin :>

Had a hermit crab named Casey. He was a life lesson that I did not want a hermit crab ever again. Very cute but the lil pamphlet he came with said "I'm very social and love to crawl around on your hand!" which was not true, at least in his case. No matter what I tried to get him used to me, he'd go up in his shell if I even approached his tank. Very active (and surprisingly noisy) during the night tho!
