I breed ^^ I haven't been able to breed for the past couple months as my stud was killed by his cagemate who was put to sleep, leaving me with the girls.
The babies (Angel, Melody, Izzy, and Bizzy) were adopted by a family with an 11 year old, a 5 year old and the parents. We suspect that the 11 year old got bored with them because we saw an ad on Craigslist with photos advertising rats AND a cage for SALE. (We gave them a large cage for free). The babies were in the photos; they were so thin and the cage was nasty. I called them and asked why they hadn't contacted us to rehome them, as that was the agreement. We got them all back in a nasty, dirty cage and very unhealthy rats.

Yeah, the people where I live aren't too great. I may be adopting a blue female soon. She is very old and covered in tumors, but they appear to be fatty tumors. She isn't in good conditions; shes at a feed store. The tank is only about 5 gallons on pine bedding with poor ventilation and is in a 6 x 7 room with birds, mice, rats, and guinea pigs. My mom doesn't like the idea of it but I want to make her last days amazing. She is such a sweet heart.

Hehe, it kind of sounds like you're starting a rat rescue over at your place. Good for you! Just lecture your mom on how animals have feeling too and stuff. That usually works with my mom. Then you might be able to give ole blue a nice home before she passes on. You should post some pics, I would love to see your lil rat family. You know how it goes with rats, the more the merrier!

Right now my girl is wanting to nest.. When she gets up and starts moving around we take her out for a while.. But then she wants to try to nest with anything she finds outside the cage..
From what i have read this is about the time she should have been separated anyway.. She is in an aquarium since that seems to be what moat sites have recommended for birthing and new pinkies

Rats<3
I have two males, Bazil and Bug both beyond adorable and I love them to bits! It took me 6 months to convince my mom to allow me to get them, but I am so glad I did! Baze is a mismarked dalmatian, while Bug is a Variberk. I'll post some pics soon.
I really want to go and adopt the siamese from the shelter that's about a hour away, but i can't talk my mom into it yet.
