And that pretty baby girl is Lady!!

So a little bit about them and my history with them. This summer I got to go to a barm most days. It was a small back-yard barn with three stalls and lots of paddoc space. There were two horses, one horse had just recently died a week before and she was the alpha of the heard, Lady and Tramp, and three other ponies and a mule. Talk about a heard! Any way all the equines were broken up about Fancy (the mare) passing and when I got there I got to learn a lot about horses feelings and signals. Lady and Tramp are brother and sister, Lady is about two years older, and they were the things that got the whole barn out of the sad times. Trampy is excitable and a little stinker and Lady is much more calm and peaceful. They are both ponies however the attitudes they have are what I wanted to portray.

Next personal story!

When I was in first grade I took lesson at a barn close to me, it was the first lessons I ever took and I was absolutely in love with my lesson horse, jojo. Now one day jojo wasn't there and I couldn't use him for the lesson so my instructor put me on a different lesson horse, Hades. He was huge to my first grader self, a 16h pitch black Frisian, and he had an attitude to go with the name Hades (King of hell, ominous right?) now I walked right up to him and got up on the mounting block, I had to jump on witch resulted in me sliding off the other end of the saddle, just like you see people or cartoons to comically. It really hurt. Now any other time I would have just cried and walked away but there was something in the way that he stood there, like he was challenging me. So I got on and this time I stayed on. And that in itself isn't took interesting of a story but he challenged me to be the best I could be and I really respect him for that.

Ok now on to the Frisians!

I remember it like it was yesterday, the very fist day I saw her. I was only a few days old, it was cold, there was a little bit of snow, and a small flower was peeking out. I stayed close to my mothers side, she was warm and she fed me. It was then that I saw her, she was by her mother as well, and we were all in the same field. Our mother ran to each other and I got the feeling that they were best of friends. They ran to a far end of our field leaving me and her alone by the barn I skipped over to her trying not to lose my balance or get in the snow too much. "Hi" she said, "um, hi!" I said back to her but she was already running to her mom. She was so beautiful, like the moon. And if she was the moon I would be her sun. She would be my best friend and counter part, I was sure of it. And right I was.

He was such a silly little foal, getting all flustered and trying not to step in the snow. Right from the time I met him we were in sync, our mothers ad conceived and foaled us at almost the exact same times, and we were all ways in the same pen. When were were two we were trained together and taught to be even more in tune to each other, steeping in time and not spooking. We are definitely different horses but it seems like we compliment each other perfectly, like red an white, the moon and sun, or a white horse on a hill with a blue sky behind them.

It was about thtee years after I had met her. We had long since been taken out of our paddock with our mothers and moved into one of our own. We had stalls next to each other in a warm barm during the winter. This one particular night however have different. I woke up to the smell of smoke and as I looked around for the source I saw the hay pile on the other side of the barn ablaze! I gave a whiny to her and as she awoke I slipped my head through the stall window and undid the door. I helped her out of her stall and I galloped to the barn door! It was open but she wasn't there, she was helping all the other horses get out. The humans were no where in sight so I helped her and then we all ran to the nearby stream, and as we sheltered in the reeds I relized just how lucky I was to have her as my best friend.
