I hate it too, but technically those wild horses aren't really 'wild' they're the exact same species as a domesticated horse, they're just feral... But the fact that they've been able to establish themselves in an ecosystem is important, and means that even if they need population control, they should be protected.

North America's wild horses died out thousands of years ago.
saying "American wild horses need saving" is like saying "America needs wild hyenas, Elephants and Rhinoceros again because we had them"
