First post calls for this:

Auto does not mean:
x That when someone offers your auto they have to offer a bit more.
x That it's the LEAST you could ask for the pet you're auctioning.
x That anyone who doesn't offer the auto is giving you a bad offer.
x That you should ask for your 'dream'. If it's a dream, it does not belong on the list unless you are offering what said dream is worth.

An auto should be:
x Realistic. If we are completely honest, you will never get a July for your Valentines '09 PPS, no matter what July you set as your auto.
x A fair exchange + incentive. Some people seem to get this wrong. An auto isn't squeezing out as many valuable pets as possible for your pet, it's supposed to be a fair offer + incentive.
x Clearly stated and left unchanged unless notify is given. I've seen plenty of people strive to get people's 'autos' just to have them changed whenever.

Autos you should think twice about asking for:
x Any high-end July or UR goes here. If you are auctioning a pet that isn't from '08, it is unlikely that your pet is worth any July at all (I mind you, exceptions such as Wood-Angel are present). This means that if you ask for a Moonswirl or Sunjewel or even UR cat for your beloved Peacock PPS, you are setting the auto too high. Autos should be, as stated previously, fair + incentive.

I have a question:

I'm thinking about hosting an auction for an '11 July Store Pet. I just got the pet, and I was wondering how much this pet would be 'worth' in a fair trade. If anyone has an answer for me, please PM me! =[

I have a question... To start and auction do we have to have an Auto-Win? Because I'm not sure how much my pet is worth and for some reason it said I couldn't post in the "How much is this pet worth?" thread... :)

You do not need an auto-win to start an auction. c:

I'm updating the first post right now to include some other things people have mentioned.

The phrase "I can dream" is also just as frustrating.

Might I suggest adding a phrase I've seen a lot lately: "Fairness is in the eyes of the auctioneer"? e.e Every time I see that, I'm like, "Err.. cake dog does not equal moonswirl" (or whatever the pet/ridiculous auto is).

Hey, I have a quick question, if it's alright. ^^
I placed a bid on a pet, and the auctioneer sent me a suggestion back, asking for a pet I hadn't offered and I'm not prepared to give for what the auction is. I decided to check the auction thread to see if they'd said anything about it, and I noticed they had listed that pet as my bid. Looking at some of the other bids, they all looked like something the auctioneer had edited back to the person who'd sent the bid, and several of the "bids" were completely unfair to the bidders. I'm just wondering, is what this person is doing allowed? o.o I know I don't have to accept their trade, but I'm just curious. ^^ Thanks!
