Data-Dogs

Like everyone else, some of the pets here just resonate with me. Sometimes its mirror of some facet of myself, other times a little glimpse of a character or something that amuses me. While I have, by now, hundreds of pets I adore, here are the ones that I adore most.

Rebel Yell was my first great CS love. I was still very new to CS when this litter came out. The bob tail and flashy colors on the soft brown just did it for me. He looked like mischief and a little bit of trouble, and positively brilliant.

When I saw Scout I had to have him. I did not know how I'd get him, I was very new, but a generous CS'er then under the handle Miken13, gifted him to me. Scout is named for my brother, a cavalry scout serving in Iraq. He holds vigil in my signature, and will remain there until my brother comes home safe and sound.

Jukebox Hero is one of the self reflections. I'm a goof. I love music. I love my computer. I love gaming and listening to just the right song for the game I'm playing. So does Hero!

Remember that thing about music? There isn't many genres I don't like, but my favorite kind of music is metal. Classic metal, heavy metal, nu metal. Besides being a robotic dog, which is awesome enough, Heavy Metal is my ode to my inner head banger, mosher, and crowd surfer.

Just too cute to be evil, she's just a little Wicked. Wicked is more about pranks and mischief than really doing anything evil or bad. I doubt anyone would take her seriously if she tried to anyway.

Plumpkin, while being something of a fall fae-pup, is another of my self reflections. Silly. Again. What can I say... its just me! I love to have fun. Plumpkin is probably my most prized CS pet, both for the personality and the way she came together with her dressings.

Punkie! Another rocker dog, no surprise. She has the biggest crush on Heavy Metal, but don't tell her I told you. I won Punkie with a short story, which can be found in my signature Story-Time link for the curious. She has so much personality herself, and one that I definitely identify with.

While Wicked couldn't pull off evil, Vampira most certainly can. She is, naturally, a vampire. She is self serving, a predator, and a brilliant mancer of the shadows often followed by the creatures she summons from them. I never thought I'd actually use the speech bubbles, but with that look and those fangs, I couldn't help myself. :P

She's very peaceful, this one. When I saw her, and started dressing her, I found myself humming the song Imagine, by John Lennon, and so the name stuck.

Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN! Harle just wants to have fun! A confession, an admission if you will - I don't usually like the PPS puppies. They look timid and unsure to me. But along comes Harle with her big cheesy grin and I just fell in love.

Paige is a lovely girl. She has a simple, tasteful sense of style and the sweetest smile. She is tender, kind, and always ready with a hug. She is named for my daughter, who despite being a very young girl herself, is already all of those things.

Serenity is my Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador.
I learned recently that I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, and that I have been having simple and complex partial seizures for the greater part of my life. It was a complete shock. I thought if you had a seizure, you knew it, that you convulsed, that some doctor would have told me I had epilepsy. I had spent my life struggling in psychiatric care, to no success. When I learned my troubles were caused by having seizures in the emotional epicenter of my brain, it was a huge relief and validation, and allowed me to move forward and start to repair my life. Purple is the color for epilepsy awareness, and this beautiful dog is the perfect one for the job. I imagine her looking over children with epilepsy, calming the storms in their young brains and bringing them peace and serenity.

Cheer is the equally cheeky older brother of Harle. He's always has his mistletoe ready, looking for the perfect opportunity to steal a peck and smooch from some unsuspecting sweetheart, whether its Christmas or not!

Lucky little leprechaun Llewellyn is one of the nicer of her kin. She brings not just gold and magic but trappings of Spring. She smells of fresh rain and ripe flower buds and keeps the company of butterflies dancing on the air around her.

The good Professor Wojtkowski (Extra credit if you can figure out how to say that right!) is actually a reflection of my hubby, the physicist. He wears many hats at work - engineer, scientist, computer programmer, physicist, inventor, mathematician - but wants more than anything to teach. The Professor here is a bit of a geek himself, a little nerdy, but it must be said... Science. Is. Sexy.

Old Man Winter. He is what he is... and that is grouchy and cranky! He does take time though to teach the whelps a thing or two about how to really win a snowball fight. It dawns on me here that I have a spring, fall, and winter personification in this list already. I wonder when summer will sneak in.

Aerial is giving Santa's reindeer a run for their money in the flying cervidae arena. This winged one is an aerial acrobatic with a magnificent span of feathery wings. She could spend all her days drifting through the clouds without a thought to stress or trouble, and be none the wiser that there was ever such a thing as worry.

Li is a panda who loves a party, any kind of party! Festivals, parades, holidays, birthdays - if there is a reason to celebrate, she will most certainly be there, with bows on if not bells.

Mrs Baker, as you might guess, keeps up with my Sweets 'n Soda Shoppe. She is a miracle worker, really. A saint! And a brilliant master of the sweet arts.
