In this thread I intend to show off and talk about my various hoards and especially my collection-hoards.

By collection-hoards what I mean is I prefer to collect one extra of each pet that fits the hoard I intend it to be a part of. This sometimes means I collect two of them, one for my collection and one for the hoard, or sometimes more than two if I have more hoards that particular pet fits. Collecting many of all one kind of pet, or even a few kinds, just doesn't spark joy for me... but this way of hoarding really does. The vast majority of my hoards are the collection-hoard style.

These are ones I only collect twenty of. They are mostly groups I use to show off items, or plan to someday.

Collection-Hoards

Glass Menagerie

This was the first collection-hoard I started, and to date the most complete. This hoard is dedicated to pets that look like they are made of transparent glass or have a body part that is see-through.

Why do I collect these?
When I was a child I loved finding sea glass on the shore of the Great Lakes we would visit in the summers. Somehow these pets remind me of those simpler times.

Reindeer Games

This group was created for the purpose of collecting every official reindeer that has been released with the nine reindeer from the song (plus Olive).

Why do I collect these?
I wanted an easy reference group so I could see what kinds of reindeer we’ve had in the past. And sure I could have collected one of each, but then the rest would be left out…

It's Okay to Have a Little Pride

I definitely need to workshop that name… anyway! Baby lions, all the baby lions (and a few kittens that might have snuck in, don't tell anyone)

Why do I collect these?
Do I really need to explain, baby lion cute. This is potentially my toughest hoard to trade for, though. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever complete it.

Hey Honey, Bee Mine

This group is dedicated to all things bee-shaped and honey-flavored.

Why do I collect these?
Honestly it started when I got the UR Bee one Dec 18. Back then when I got it, it was only Very Rare not OMGSoRare, and I didn't bother trying to trade it away. And then the hoard just kind of… happened.

Bees are cool anyway we should do more to help them.

Rainbow Connection

This group is for rainbow-themed pets of all kinds. I try to limit it to pets that have the seven traditional rainbow colors. I mostly succeed.

Why do I collect these?
I love rainbows, I always have. They make me happy, seeing all these pets in one place makes me happy.

All That Glitters...

A group for pets that are silver or greyscale.

Why do I collect these?
Second to rainbows, silver is my favorite color, which is half of why I picked my username. I love the way silver shines and glitters in the light. It was really only a matter of time before I gave in and made a silver hoard.
That said, this is definitely the hardest group to decide what should and shouldn't belong; part of why I added the greyscale pets, really. Some gold pets have started sneaking in as well, recently; I mostly decide based on vibes.

Handle With Care

This group is for broken pets, be that in body or heart, and also pets that are made of glass without being see-through.

Why do I collect these?
This started as an offshoot of my Glass Menagerie hoard. I just love glass pets so much, I was putting them in there for quite a while before I decided to make this it's own thing. And while I was at it, I tossed all the broken pets in here too! It's definitely my most broadly defined hoard, but I like the end results.

Crown Jewels

A group for pets that are made of stone that is precious or valued in some way.

Why do I collect these?
I have always loved gem pets as well as the other pets I collect, if a bit less than some. What really pushed me to make this group is getting the UR PPS dragon the year it was released! It looks so much like a little gem I decided this was as good a reason as any to create this hoard.

Why do I collect these?
I love tigers. I love them so much. It makes me sad I will probably never be able to pet one (while fully understanding that this is a very bad idea, trust me) so this is the next best thing.

A group for plushie style pets.

Why do I collect these?
I loved collecting plushies in Neopets, so why not here too?

You Cannot Kill Me in a Way That Matters

Mushrooms, maybe zombies.

Why do I collect these?
I have wanted a mushroom group for a while ever since I tried for a Still Life hoard the first time around. It just took me a while to come up with the name.
Zombies are just a bonus.

Sins and Virtues

Seven deadly sins, seven heavenly virtues, and a random collection of angels and demons.

Why do I collect these?
I have always loved the Seven Deadly Sins as a concept. While I didn't know about the Virtues until they were released as pets, they had to be in the group too of course. The angels were added sometime later, as well as that horse I dressed up.

I wish it to be known I named the angel and demon foxes before S2 of Good Omens came out.

Still Life

Named after the painting style, these are pets which have flowers and food as a theme.

Why do I collect these?
I've wanted to for a while, but there are so many pets on this site that have flowers and food themes. It's ridiculous to put them all on my WL. This is my extremely casual collection-hoard, I intend to slowly gather them from the Pound and nowhere else. This hoard will probably become unlimited, so I don't have to worry about grabbing one I already have.

Starry, Starry Night

Named for a song, these are pets that have stars, space themes, or anything else that reminds me of the night sky.

Why do I collect these?
I honestly didn't mean to; I found the chameleon I am currently using as a mascot in the Pound and just... immediately thought of the song by Don McLean. I won't link it here, but please look it up on YouTube if you have a moment; it's a beautiful tribute to the artist van Gogh. I will eventually get an extra one of the staff dog that is based off the painting in question and include it in the group.

I have also always loved the poem 'The Old Astronomer to His Pupil' by Sarah Williams.

Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
*I have loved the stars too truly to be fearful of the night.

Perhaps, then, this will be a tribute to both my Uncle Richard and my Grandmother Dorcas. My uncle was a wonderful man, and an artist. My grandmother was a scientist. I think both of them would appreciate the poem, and the night sky, in their own ways...

A hoard for pets with prominent eyes or eye-like designs.

Why do I collect these?
I couldn't tell you. They just look cool, and I've been casually setting them aside for a while now. The timing just seems right to make an official hoard with them.

The Most Beautiful Sound in the Universe

This hoard is composed of 80 of all five of the dogs from this litter. I have named many of them after the Doctor's companions. I fully intend to name all of them after companions one day, but I also stopped being such a DW fan since making this hoard. I have no intention of disbanding it, even so.
