Hello and Welcome to WWM's Cave!
This is my little portion of the dragoncave world. I am a keeper of dragons and, though demanding, I thoroughly enjoy my job. My (rather small) house sits on the edge of a grand lake where I keep large floating gardens. To the east lies the mountain range with a few volcanoes. Yes, the volcanoes occasionally erupt, but there have been no fatalities as of yet; the thunder and I are getting quite good at fending off magma flow. What do we do with the diverted magma flow? Great question. Luckily not too far to the west there is the coast and its oceanic grandeur. Way back south, across the desert, there lies the forest. The forest is a bit squished perhaps, but one cannot have everything. There's a dark portion of the forest that gets a little swampy; I tend to stay away from that particular part of my property if I can manage it.
Mountains, huge lake, coast, volcanoes, forest, swamp?! How did i score such a sweet piece of property? Another great question! Answer is:... I dunno. I inherited it from some long lost great-great-great uncle or something. A letter just showed up in my mailbox one day and I thought "why the heck not?" and moved myself out here. I built a little shack that would keep me warm when the wind blew and if snow decided to fall (it never really seems to. I don't think my dragons like the cold very much...). I made the floating gardens to keep myself busy. The property, what with all the different landscapes, is a bit out of reach for society so I'm a bit of a hermit.
Well one day I was out tending my gardens on a raft and this little blue... thing came up and stole my scarf! I was a bit scared, but it was so little that surely it couldn't do much damage to me. It definitely wasn't a snake, but it wasn't anything I'd come across before. So I brought out another scarf out about a week later and the little thing came again! Only it wasn't quite so little anymore... I'd never seen anything grow that much in a week! At any rate this time i managed to hold onto the scarf so that the thing couldn't swim away. Our eyes locked. It was definitely young. Just had a youthful look about its... snout. He, at this point I knew that it was a he, I could just feel it, tugged at it and this deep voice suddenly echoed in my head. An ancient kind of voice, one that makes your bones vibrate. All it said was "May I have it...?" very meekly. I laughed and had to let him have it. Next thing you know he starts meeting me at the lakes edge when I come out. Over time he tells me his name, that he's a dragon, and that there are lots of other dragons! Now i'd never seen nor heard of a dragon, but again, I'm a go with the flow kind of person. So why not? Dragons started just popping up all over: different breeds, different personalities, different names; some wild, some more domesticated; It soon became too much for my tiny mind to handle. So I picked up a notebook and starting recording all the dragons that I found around my property. Turns out there's way more than i initially imagined. It takes nearly constant vigilance to keep them all straight and tagged and busy enough to not destroy everything. It's exhausting...
Did I mention I love my job?
