          FAE's name: Red Wood
          Barn Name: Red
Meaning: Inspired by the red maple leaf, and the bark of a maple tree.
          Age: 5
          Gender: Stallion
Personality: Red is a fiery stallion, which compliments his fiery colour. He can be pretty headstrong, and needs the right handler and rider to be able to bring out it good qualities. Behind is snappy and attitudal personality, he is an incredible horse, and has so much potential. Being only four, he can sometimes be a bit clueless, and is still learning the ropes, and how to act reasonably with humans. That being said, he does believe the world revolves around him. But he is only young, and he is still growing and learning how to behave. Behind it all he is very willing, and is open to anything asked of him, which is why he is a pleasure to train and work with. His future is looking bright!
Pet Peeve: Rough Handlers - Since Red can get quite bossy and snappy, a rough handler can really get on his nerves. He likes to be the boss, making it hard to work with him a first, because you need the right person. A handler that is too quiet would not be suitable either, he would just take advantage of him. Patience is needed to build a partnership with this horse.
Likes: Jumping, Cross Country, Being let out, being given his head.
Dislikes: Horses he doesn't mesh with, Dressage, being forcibly restrained.
Favorite Canadian Treat: Maple Syrup - If Red has been good, a table spoon of maple syrup is mixed in with his daily feed, almost like molasses, sweet and syrupy. He is also given it after a competition, and occasionally before, depending on his behavior. It is definitely an occasional special treat, and it is advised against giving him this delicious treat more than once a week.
Favorite place in Canada: Long Beach, Tofino, British Columbia - a beautiful beach town clinging to the wild west coast of Vancouver Island. Long Beach is an almost mystical place, a long beach of great waves and breathtaking beauty.
          Art: x
Story: I quickly walked over to the car that had just pulled in to the barn driveway. The car door was opened and Jack, the owner of the equestrian center stepped out, dressed in his plain shirt and blue jeans. I tucked my gloves into the waist of my jodphurs and waved. 'Hey. What's on the agenda for today?'
Jack tucked his phone back in his shirt pocket and made his way to the feed room. 'Have you made up feed for the horses?'
I gestured to the 18 full buckets waiting.
'We are sending Prince out for a spell, and are bringing in a new horse for work.' he tipped out Prince's bucket and made a bigger mix, adding a swig of... maple syrup? 'His name is Red Wood,' he said as he worked. 'Red for short. He's a new horse, and I want you to ride him.'
I ride Jack's 18 performance horses, and I help him and his groom staff keep their careers running. I started out helping the boarding clients here, and cleaning out riding school horses stables. Now I have the honor of riding horses worth more than a house.
I dusted off a quilted saddle pad with a carefully embroidered logo, and placed it on the stunning cherry bay tobiano stallion's back. He was quite snappy and bossy, but I didn't try to rule over him - which is what Jack advised me to do. I put the saddle on and weaved the complicated 5-point breastplate through the jumping girth. His colour was stunning, something quite unusual for a performance horse like him. And his horns were breathtaking!
Riding Red was like riding one of the other horses, but he had a bounce in his stride. He was very willing once I had gotten past his stubborn outer layer. He had a little bit of magic in each stride, and it was awesome. He was very inexperienced though, so he was hard to collect during the flat work. Red didn't like to be held back. Under the supervision of Jack, I took him out to the cross country course, and gave him his head, tackling logs and muddy puddles. He was fast, but swift, and loved being given his head again.
As I swiftly dismounted, I was grounded again. Fingers crossed Jack keeps Red - I can't wait for another ride!

Congrats! It was a tie in between You and Ruby-skylark, but the story just seemed like it is meant to be.
