Hoards of My Collection
About my hoards:
I joined Chicken Smoothie in April 2009. Two friends of mine whom I had met on LiveJournal (chiffonwings and sn00white) recommended the site to me. While I liked the design of the Butterfly Wolves very much, most of the other pet designs did not appeal to me, and the site failed to draw me in. I adopted a handful of monthly pets, and left. I did not return to Chicken Smoothie for 20 long months. In December 2010, between Christmas and New Year's Eve, I found my way back to Chicken Smoothie. By then, the site had evolved, many more pets had been released, and some new pet designs were in circulation. This time, I stayed.
I decided not to aim for a complete collection but to focus only on the pets that I liked. There were a lot of pets that did not appeal to me - either because of their species or because of their design and colouring. Spending all of my time and trade fodder on a complete collection did not make any sense to me.
In early 2011, I participated in a quantity auction for a Blue Scarf Advent. I won the auction with a quantity of Andalusian and Friesian horses from Advent 2010. It was my first experience with hoarding, and I liked the pets that I had collected for my auction bid so much that I collected a mini-hoard of Andalusian and Friesian horses for myself. Thus, in March 2011, my first hoard was born. Many more hoards have followed over the course of time.
My hoards consist of the pets that I like best, regardless of their rarity. Some hoards focus on individual outcomes, some include entire litters. I am a mini-hoarder. Almost all of my hoards are limited hoards, consisting of anywhere between 5 and 20 pets of any individual outcome. My only unlimited hoard is my birthday hoard. It consists of any pets adopted on October 10th of any year. Adoption dates matter to me. With only a few exceptions, all of my hoards contain pets that have been adopted on the same day.
