MY LOVELIES [LF: passive]

Postby Omukade » Wed Oct 18, 2023 2:42 pm

My Lovelies are a collection of pets that I simply can't (and won't) trade for anything. I've personified a lot of them are are attached in some way to all of them. Sometimes pets will move in or out of this group as I decide whether I'm just reluctant to trade with them, or actually attached. Many pets that I trade for are for the purposes of further trading to afford things on my wishlist, and most Lovelies are pets that I acquired with that intention, and then wasn't able to part with. You cannot make any offers on pets in this group.
Image
This is Lewy! He's... Special to me in some way, I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe the colors? Either way it was love at first sight with this one. He caught my heart from the get-go. Thinking I might use him as a bit of a persona? Maybe try to roleplay some? Not sure! But either way he's one of my firsts and favorites.

Image
This is Kenna! She was the first pet I ever picked up from the pound. I was still pretty confused about CS and wasn't really... sure about my choice there. I honestly did not expect to get attached to her, but here we are. I really love her color palette though. If only I could draw horses...

Kenna is the name she came with, by the way. I've considered renaming her but I just don't have the heart.

Image
This is Keroppi! I think she's the first that grew up from this month's litter, and I was immediately smitten. I mean look at her!! Look at the little frog on her shoulder and her little blush... How could you not love that. I'm keeping her. She's so lovely. I named her after the Sanrio character but I still haven't checked to see if I spelled his name right.

Image
SPOON! Oh, goodness; Spoon is a long story. Once upon a time I had never played D&D before, and the first friend I had made in over a year (only friend at the time) invited me over to her house to play D&D with her family. I was so excited, I created a half-elf cowboy paladin (lawful good) and gave him a folk hero background. I got to give him a horse. I named the horse Spoon--not because I couldn't think of any names at the time, but because I had just played/read an interactive novel called Fallen Hero; my favorite side-character named his emotional support dog 'Spoon', "In case I run out of spoons". The spoon thing is a reference to some mental health stuff--anyway. This is Spoon!

Image
This is FlameBringer! I'm not sold on the name, but he's a work in progress, so what can ya do. I'm going to get all those flaming horse items and deck him out in FIRE and he's gonna look so cool, just you wait. I'm so excited. Then when he's done I'll get a better flame-themed name for him. It'll probably be a bit before I can get those items, I always forget that's a trade option.

Image
This is Lupen! Named so because lupus like wolf? Canis Lupus? And wolf in sheep's clothing--yeah anyway. I had another sheep named Vicks (for no real reason) that was paired with him but I think Vicks is in a trade right now. I dunno if it'll end up canceled or not so I guess until then, Lupen is down a brother! I'll probably grab another sheep (sorta want the brown one) and give Lupen to Merrin. I think she likes sheep.

Image
Vicks still exists but I finally got that brown sheep so this is Candice! Like Lupen, I chose her name from 'Canis Lupus'. Subtle, I know. I don't have any firm attachment to her except for the fact that if I'm going to have sheep I can't have just one, I need at least two so that they can keep each other company. I imagine that she's Lupen's sister.

Image
This is Dibbit! I am just in love with Dibbit's design, I want to chew on her, I feel like she would taste so sweet, like carnival candy. She's got all my favorite motifs (sparkles, diamonds, black and bright colors), I just can't get over her and I'm never getting rid of her. I've looked at the other designs from her batch and none of them hit as hard as Dibbit does. She's just built different. My prettiest lady, I'd put her up in pageant shows.

Image
This is Zepto! Most of the dragons I collect because I like the design and want to draw them (I like drawing dragons), but Zepto is special because... I was just instantly attracted to his name in one of those 'steal a pet from the person above you' forum games and the person who owned him was kind enough to gift him to me!! That's part of what makes him special, and the other part is definitely that he's gorgeous. Orange is my favorite color, and black is just such a good look for everything. I find myself often a little disappointed in the dragon designs but not with Zepto. He's perfect, my nervous little son.

Image
This is Mandarin! I am obsessed with Mandarin's design. The orange, the black stripes, the orange fruits... My favorite fruit is an orange, alongside being my favorite color, so Mandarin just had my heart the moment I saw them. I also love their little whiskers and how the tiger motif continues with the soft tail; one of the few dragon designs I'm not disappointed with in the slightest. I don't like the other color variants, but that's just a color preference thing. (My complaints about the dragon designs also hold no weight because, quite honestly, I'm just picky about dragons in general.)

Image
This is Zenaida! Listen, I'm sorry I can't show off a dragon without talking about how disappointed I am with most of them but I just love eastern dragons and I feel like a lot of the ones that have been released so far just aren't hitting the mark. CS hit me up I have ideas. Zenaida is one of the very few eastern dragons that have a compelling design that I'm satisfied with. A little soft for my tastes, but Zenaida holds a place in my heart for being one of the first dragons I got a hold of. I can forgive him looking a little goofy because he's a sweetheart, and doesn't deserve me making fun of him for something he can't control. One day I'll draw him in all his goofy, wormy glory.

OMENS AND PROPHECIES FOR A BETTER FUTURE [LF: Active]

Postby Omukade » Wed Oct 18, 2023 2:48 pm

I've accidentally created a little world where all these creatures live as patron saints, apostles, harbingers, avatars and tokens of little things in life. I think the original intention was meant to be largely positive (they're 'for a better future' after all) but they've definitely developed into something else, now. Not something negative by any means but certainly not something constrained to the theme of better futures. I really want to do something with them, but if I'm inspired to create anything I'll want to keep it pretty abstract from the source, considering the rules and such governing CS designs; I don't want to steal anything. In the meantime I'll probably draw them as they are and continue stewing on this strange narrative. I sorta wanted to be in character for the descriptions here but that may be a little dark(?) for an adoptable animal website. Not something that would traumatize my little sister, per se, but still not something I'd necessarily want to show her, y'feel me?
Away from that, this is the first collection with an actual theme I made; the other one being The Meatscape. Since most pets on my wishlist are in service of fleshing this out, none of these pets are available for trade.

Image
WATCHER-1. I momentarily called her the 'Ceaseless Watcher of Your Bad Days' but when I got her, I named her Watcher-1 and so she'll always be Watcher-1 in my heart. I imagine she's the elder of the Omens and they defer to her as such, but she definitely plays a more observational role than anything else. Her input is valued because she rarely has a personal stake in proceedings, but I don't imagine her being entirely cold. I think she cares, she just cares about the bigger picture and will advice people in service of that.

Image
HARBINGER OF NEW BEGINNINGS. Harbinger (or 'Harry' as I've taken to calling her) was the first in this collection, with Watcher-1 following soon after. (I had Watcher-1 first, but she wasn't included in this group until fairly recently.) I think it's just... She's got the sun on her back, otherwise dark fur, 'eclipse' didn't quite fit to me and so she just became New Beginnings. Like the tower arcana, she shows up when things are about to change, or people are about to turn over a new leaf. In whatever story comes of this, she serves as the introduction to the plot, or the catalyst or whatever. Man, I just write the stories, I don't care to know the technicalities.

Image
PATRON SAINT OF RIGHTING WRONGS. Originally the 'Patron Saint of Correcting Injustice'. I've had a lot of trouble naming these guys due to the character limit imposed by CS in pet names, but I think it's a neat challenge to face. I have to decide exactly what I want to convey in the name; usually my go-to would be to look up weird words, but I want the names to be accessible at a glance because I like to be weird, but I like to be accessibly weird. I want people to understand what the omens are about at a glance. I don't have a lot about this guy specifically, just the thoughts I had while naming him.
Actually, I think there's an assumption of violence that comes with his patronage (hence the appearance) but really the correction can take any form that serves those who are victim. That's why I wouldn't just call him 'vengeance' or anything, because vengeance is exclusively negative. 'Correcting injustice' was closer to the vibe I wanted but 'righting wrongs' is the closest. Mainly neutral, but acknowledging that something bad did happen, and it needs to be fixed. Fact rather than emotion.

Image
AVATAR OF THE STARS THAT GUIDE YOU. I'm gonna be real, I'm not completely sold on her yet. I know my intention with this one but the execution isn't there yet, I think she might be better suited in the Garden under a different name. Because I love the design, I just feel like she doesn't fit in here. The guiding stars is a good concept but I'm really just not feeling this specific iteration. I'll work it out eventually.

Image
THE HURT IN YOUR MARROW. Chronic pain be like. This guy is definitely an avatar of pain and frustration and anger. I think they'll be the only overtly negative Omen in this collection; an expression of the hurts caused by things beyond your control. I do think he's less of a harbinger and more of a commiserater. He's attracted to sites/people in those kinds of pain but he doesn't cause it, he manifests as--well as an expression, like I said. Takes the hurt and throws a tantrum and expels it. What effect that has on the surroundings depends on the circumstances, probably.

Image
KERAS: PATRON SAINT OF GRASSES TO LIE IN. Keras, the only Omen with an actual name so far. I plan to give them all names, but I want to put a modicum of research into it; I like to take pieces of words that are tangentially related and cut them apart and smush them together until I get something serviceable. I think 'Keras' came from the scientific name for a Mourning Dove. I think she's an outdoorsy type, patron of restful moments in nature, although with the increasing urbanization of everything, sometimes you have to make due with a bird on a window sill, or a sunset over rooftops, rather than grasses to lie in.

Image
TOKEN FOR WHAT YOU SAW TOO SOON. This one is a little dark no matter my explanation so I'll keep it brief; we all know and can remember something we experienced as a child that we should not have. Whether that's a movie you were too young for or something a little more drastic, it was undeserved. I'm sure any adults can extrapolate the rest. This token appears for those children an accompanies them, I think. Or perhaps it guards over them while they process whatever it was that they were witness to. I think the foal, laying down, just really hit hard with this one. I forgot about them when I was discussing Marrow, so that's two negative Omens in this collection.

Image
AVATAR OF MIDDAY FATIGUE. Do you also get tired after 1pm? I do. I feel like it's due to the fact that I'm a morning person and consistently wake up at 5-7am because of my internal clock. I like waking up that early, but the 3pm nap has also become so, so real for me. This avatar is for that. I imagine she'd curl up and take a nap with me, or just fly around to taunt me while I'm trying to stay awake. I don't think she talks much.

Image
MANIFESTATION OF FORGOTTEN TASKS. You know how sometimes you have these grand plans and you forget to write them down? Or even that you considered doing the laundry today but then got distracted with classwork or remote work and then didn't and now it's 8:30pm and a little late to be doing your laundry? I think those tasks die when we don't do them, whether or not we remember about them later. I think this guy is the manifestation of that; he collects them and keeps them. The toothfairy of all the things I forgot to do this week.

Image
PATRON SAINT OF SHED TEARS IN SILENCE I've found that I grew up not knowing how to cry properly. That's not a commentary on anything, it's just an experience I have; I think this patron doesn't necessarily help with that but is supportive in those of us who don't have a voice when we're upset. It's sort of uniquely terrible to not be able to communicate while you're upset and I think she understands that. I know I said upset, but really it could be anything that brings you to tears; I once got so excited to hug my best friend that I went straight from joy into a panic attack. I think it's funny now, but I was still crying at the time, I think she is patron to those moments too.

Image
BLESSED TOKEN OF THE THIRD TRY. Third try's the charm, and this is the charm of the third try. I really genuinely just love his name, and his whole motif. He's luck, he's effort, he's a reward after hard work, he's success of the little things! I adore him, unconditionally, and I hope everyone has many Blessed Tokens of the Third Try in their futures.

Image
SACRED GUARDIAN OF FAMILY DINNERS. I feel like 'family' in this case doesn't only refer to blood, but to any family you've gathered at all. Bonding over food should be protected, and I think this lovely lady is up to the task. Seems like she'd come off super regal but I'm sure she's great with small children and their eternally-sticky little hands. Her presence deters those who may want to make a scene during an event intended to be healing.

Image
LESSER TOKEN OF THAT WHICH BINDS YOU. Your fear of looking stupid is holding you back!! Sometimes that happens and it's okay. Dismissing this token will give you the strength to free you from your bonds. No hard feelings, they understand how it is and they're proud of every single person who fights against them.
