I think it's a great idea.

It doesn't make it harder for newbies as newbies tend to collect pets they like the look of and don't mind too much about having every outcome of every litter.

This makes it harder trading for hard-core collectors (id say I'm a mild collector myself) so it would provide a challenge but that can be fun and rewarding!

How do you know this? I can only speak for myself ofc, but when I started out, I immediately wanted to start collecting all monthly pets and event pets from that point on, one reason for this being, because I quickly realized how hard it would be to collect older rares. I started playing in September 2018 (nvm my date stating Feb 18 - that's when I created my account and got the pets from that month and active events, but didn't do any trading to complete them and then let the account sit for about half a year), so started really playing pretty soon after the jungle event. I saw how much I liked those pets and started to collect them, which took me several months, I think well into the next year and was only possible because of some generous people and predominantly double event pets from Halloween, Christmas, pound...

If it makes trading harder for hard-core collectors, how exactly is it going to make it easier for newbies?

This is interesting, as of course, I feel everyone deserves a chance at getting rare pets, especially newbies or users who don't actively trade. However, if "rare" pets were to become more common then doesn't it defeat the point of them being "rare"?
I would absolutely love the chance of one of the monthly/special adoption pets to be a rare each time I adopt, however, I personally would like this to be at the detriment of their actual rarity status.
Also, I think I would personally prefer the "rare" pet to look like one of the litter, but with some special characteristics that make it stand out from its less rare counterparts. Personally it wouldn't interest me if the rare pet turned out to be a completely different animal from the litter it was born to.

I really like this idea! I remember when I first joined I wasn't able to get the July 2012 lion It came out as rare and I was like oh! Maybe one day I'll be lucky! The very next month I managed to get the August PPS lion in my adopts and was so thrilled and excited. It was one of the best days I had on CS. I was slightly disappointed when in later months it seemed there wouldn't be more rare pets. I stopped caring as much, and even when the golden gatcha dog came out I assumed it would be uncommon, because you just don't get rares in monthly adopts anymore, like you did in the old days.

Bringing this back would be an amazing thing, especially for newbies who have the chance to get a rare as one of their first pets and have the same magic I had all those years ago. There is just something very satisfying about adopting a rare and it being a surprise!

As a secondary point I had absolutely no idea about the zebra's, and I've been playing for over 10 years, but knowing this could be possible happen (although unlikely) is also very cool! I know it's not the point of this discussion, but I'd love if this happened with other species, perhaps a set of SR warrior cats in the cats litter, obviously at the same very very low chance rate.

I fully support the idea! I remember, when I just joined and started with nothing, I was wondering why there are almost no rares in monthly adoptions, compared to the previous years and this fact disappointed me, gave no motivation to play and adopt. Adopting every month to get a 100% omgsc - common is boring. That’s why only holiday events are exciting, and they are always what I really wait for to get some rarer pets for my collection and as a trade fodder. However, during the events, you can’t get anything rarer than just “rare”.

Also, this will give newer players more opportunities to get rares in their collection and will make monthly adoptions fun. Huge support!

As for Valentine Lioness, I was very glad and excited to see something rarer, than uncommon with a nice design, and I got 5 of them in relatively fare trades from players, who got doubles of it. There’s no need to offer an insane overpay in order to have it first before anyone else.

I think people getting several of them from people who only had one extra is exactly why there is a seeming need to overpay. We all know that rarer monthly adopts, esp. when they get special designs, will be hoarded to no end. And every pet added to a hoard in a "fair trade" is one less person who will be able to get a single one in a fair trade.

I'm interested in more pets like the Golden Gacha Dog Litter, specifically because pets like that tend to get really high in demand, giving new users a chance to get higher-value pets from people who want to hoard them or trade for them for permanent collections. I've seen the gold gacha dog go for 09s before, which was really exciting at the time because it meant new users who adopted it could actually get some real value for their monthlies.-snip-

Ah yes, a few of us do not want to see insane overpay for these newly introduced rares. Because this would frustrate casual traders who missed the outcome and this would completely alienate new players. Who has the 09 rares to offer for the new rare? Is it newbies? Sadly not. This means if they go for overpay a new player would have to get lucky and adopt it themselves. They will be rare for a reason so a lot of new players would miss out. Not to mention if new rares go for overpay new players will be a target to be offered something simple like a litter swap then the experienced trader turns around and puts the pet up for overpay.

No. I would not like to see that :c I am hoping these new rares go for reasonable amounts like rares from only a few years back at most. My fear is exactly what you are hoping for, an overpay banaza.

Edit: with the rarity update it's more like 09 very rares. I forget sometimes that most of the 09 pets went VR. So in theory a 2023 rare for an 2009 very rare? Yikes

As a lurker with anxiety I don't support this at all. It's already hard to get all the pets each month and this would make it even harder.

I'm not a fan of the rarity of zebras but the occasional rare litter outcome has long been a thing. Can't see any issue doing it more frequently. Once a month is maybe a little too frequent though, I'm still struggling to catch up after 2009's litters.
