I love this idea! It helps everyone (but especially newbies) get rare pets naturally outside of the few big yearly events and trading! With the climate of trading these days, it's very difficult to climb your way up to valuable pets naturally, since monthly pets are not really valuable at all. Unless you get lucky with a giveaway or a user willing to overpay, it's very hard to increase the value of your pets without outside sources like offsite trading or art. If you can't do either of those, I imagine it feels a bit hopeless starting from scratch. This addition could be a boost for people who struggle to obtain more valuable pets.
Though, I think similar to December 18th, there should be some kind of warning/notice for users, so that they can look out for these rare outcomes and avoid being scammed out of them. Even though these rare outcomes would be less rare than a lot of December 18th pets, I think it's still worth mentioning, since some of these rare pets can and will grow in value overtime.
I've also seen a fair few people against this idea because it introduces more trading anxiety for them. While I understand this point, it's worth looking at outside perspectives to see how it would impact the site on a global level, rather than individually. As an old, old user, I personally don't really need rare outcomes for trading, as I have a good amount of spare pets. I don't personally need this. However, this is a matter of the health of trading as a whole. When most rare pets are no longer obtainable through adoptions, anyone who joins after these pets are available just... can't do much. CS needs to foster a welcoming environment for everyone if we want to see the site thrive. New users are the lifeblood of that growth, because not everyone will stay on this site forever. As old users phase out, there needs to be new users to replace them. And if these new users lose interest because everything is unobtainable to them, well... thats not ideal. They need a more consistent avenue for better pets to keep them engaged.

This depends a little for me. I voted second option but might also want fourth, not really sure what the fourth really entails though… is it a special release meant here or just like a heavily edited lineart of one pet in a litter so it looks like something else but is insanely hard to get like an UR, or is it like the zebras? I’m unclear.
But also, I’d only want option 2 sparsely. I don’t mind how it is now tbh. I actually don’t like the valentines lion simply because I have such bad connotations to it from trading for it. I thought it was great when I first saw it, but after the insanity of trading for it, as a “regular” release pet, I now don’t like to look at it.
I’d prefer more dec 18 like events where you can pull older rares that already exist, without adding new pets to the pool that are crazy hard to get.
All my older rare pets (like 2015 and older) are either gifts, giveaway wins, or else offsite trades (some paid with c$ acquired from offsite trades). Pretty much zero of them are actually traded pets for pets on this site. Only pets in the common-uncommon area are traded on this site.

It’s me, hi.
I want one copy of every pet on this site!

I do miss back when things like the August PPS and July lioness were randomly released in a litter. It was always nice to have a monthly 'chase'. Maybe not every month, and maybe not all quite to their scarcity. But at least half the months a year with a 'chase' pet would be nice.

Oh no. I dread this!
I seem to have not only bad luck but then you get people who trade and either hoard them or try and 'flip' them asking for an older pet or more items for it.
I know not everyone does this but, this is just where I get worried. When I was younger and had more free time this would have been little of an issue but as an adult it makes things a bit trickier.

I think this should be a very rare occurance. Rare monthly pets are not something I want to see often at all. If we're talking more uncommon or very uncommons that would be totally alright with me, but actual rares are a bad thing in my opinion. Having rare outcomes normalized will make swapping much harder because everyone wants their outcome to be "the rare". Maybe once or twice a year, no more than that.
Looking at current monthly outcomes, just about all of them are very common - having a rare in a mix of very commons would be FIVE rarity steps above the average which is too much imo. (Very/maybe Extremely) Uncommons would be much more reasonable and still more special than normal (despite the name sounding less impressive)

Thovatos wrote:If I could vote for multiple, I would! I'd love every month to have a 'harder' outcome! This gives me something to do during my CS downtime for the rest of the month! Not to mention, I always loved the idea of the lions/zebra 'rare' releases. There's a reason lion trading is very hard and fun! Personally, I'd love these smaller goals. And just as some others have mentioned, it really gives new players some 'buying' power, if this makes sense if they are lucky enough to adopt these 'harder' outcomes! I'm all for the last 2 options~
The last 2 options stood out the most for me as well! I'm all for this, especially since it's been getting harder and harder to find wishlist pets and items I don't have already, so this would bring a bit more fun and excitement to the game!

While it is nice to see rare monthly pets every once in a while and I can see, that it's interesting in some regards, I have to say, I would prefer this to remain something special, not something regularly expected.
Another reason, I'd not like to see this is that releasing them more often would make trading even more stressful than it already is. To be honest it could be quite a pain to even trade for pets that pre-rarity update turned out to be -just- uncommen, because people were seeing it requested a lot and assumed it might turn out rare. I think this effect would only increase with more rare monthly pets. The few pets that did turn out rare in the past weren't particularly fun to trade for, to say the least. Having this happen all the time I think as a consequence I would just lose interest in completing monthly litters.
I also want to mention events, which intensify trading each time and where a lot of rarer pets can be obtained, which in my opinion is the best option for new players to start collecting them for themselves and to trade with. While I do enjoy events, I also appreciate the times between them with a bit of a break from the frenzy.
In general I feel like the focus is too much on rarity altogether. There are so many amazing little artworks and some of them are omgsc - common, yet they are treated like junk, because of rarity. Same thing with date taken into consideration: some fairly unspectacular pets are being considered much more valuable than some amazing linearts of the same rarity, simply because they're older.
