Native to all of Europe, wood forget-me-nots are now also common in North America. It is a popular spring bloomer & grows best in clusters. Commonly, the flower is biennial, & a decorative plant of old in gardens & parks. The scientific name Myosotis comes from Greek & means "mouse's ear," which also gave it the name "little blue mouse's ear" in German.

At the first sight Saintpaulia looks like a violet. It originates in rainforests of Tanzania & Kenya. It is one of the most popular house plants, as it is very easy to grow. It is easiest to reproduce through leaf cuttings. Its natural environment is rocky ground in the shadow of trees. Therefore, it cannot stand too much water or direct sunlight.

Roses are known as the queen of flowers. Since ancient times red roses are a symbol of love. They were dedicated to various gods of love & fertility. The fruit of the rose, the rose hips are aggregate fruits. They can be processed into jam, liqueur or fruitwine. Most fruit tea blends contain rose hips.

The liverleaf is a herbacious perennial plant from the buttercup family. In Germany it is a protected plant. It is not allowed to collect it.The liverleaf seeds sprout after they are exposed to temperatures below 0°C for a few weeks. It needs calciferous soil to grow.

This special kind of pumpkin only grows just before Halloween & lurks in shady corners to frighten people with its scary grimace & its flickering evil light. It is a rare case of really malicious botany. Its seeds look unusual & have a vague similarity with bonbons. They have a disgusting, slightly woody taste.

Heather is a popular plant that is planted on balconies, graves & in pots in autumn. It shows its petite panicles even if there is already frost outside. The robust seeds also survive during cold winters.

The dandelion is an almost indestructible plant which grows nearly everywhere. Its name means "lion's tooth" in German as it has a jagged tooth-shaped leaf. Every seed has a pappus at it's top so it can be dispersed by the wind. They say if you blow on the seeds while thinking of someone & the seeds do not leave the stalk, you have found your true love.
