Howl may come off at first like a spoiled brat who only cares about his looks and has the courage of a lion, but actually Howl is honest and kind and cares way too much about what others think of him.
He puts on a facade that he hates in order to become someone others may like but it just pushes others away, those that do know the real, timid Howl adore him and will do any thing to drop the act and be himself.

Personality:
This young stallion is fairly energetic, bounding around and nudging other mustangs in encouragement to join him. However rejection seems to bother him, and he spends a good few moments sulking before picking himself up again.

Relationships:

Mate - Onyx: Ardyn and Onyx were not really the obvious choice for each other, Ardyn being energetic and fun while Onyx is known for being...not exactly what you would call a joy to be around. The pair constantly argued and exclaimed their hatred for each other for a long time before giving in and admitting their feelings.

It is a relatively secret relationship with only Seiko knowing the full extent, though they will spend time together and can be spotted standing together or grazing together often.

Ardyn brings out the soft side in Onyx and Onyx can keep Ardyn in check.

Best Friend - Seiko: Seiko and Ardyn are two peas in a pod, the pair are always together and causing havoc. To him she is like a sister he never had.

Nausicaa: Ardyn views Nausicaa as a mother figure, she is always there to give amazing advice and help him out when he needs it.
