FAQ
Vocab
"New World"
Tarantulas that originate from North, South, and Central American. They have a less potent venom, and are known to be more docile, and many have utricating hairs.
"Old World"
Tarantulas from Europe, Asia, Africa, ect. They have a much more potent venom, and are much, much more aggressive. They do not, however, have Utricating hairs.
"Utricating Hairs"
Barb-like hairs on the abdomen, and sometimes legs, of NW tarantulas. These hairs can often be flung at potential threats, and can cause damage to eyes and mucus glandes. On humans, the hairs can cause an itching, and sometimes painful, rash on the skin. Kiddies, wash your hands after cleaning your friends tank!
"Spiderlings"
The term used for itty-bitty adorable baby spiders. This term is dropped when the sling reaches around 2" in size, in which case it is then classified as a juvenile.
"Molting" or "Moulting"
The term used for the process of a tarantula out-growing an old exoskeleton, and shedding it off to replace ith with a new one. If you see your pet flipped over on it's back, it is molting, do not feed it, do not disturb it, doing either could result in it's death. Also, no eating for a week after either.
"Substrate"
The ground covering in a tank, should never be wood chips, and should be at least 2 inches deep.
"Arboreal"
Tree-dwelling species of tarantulas. These tend to be less likely to get injured from falling, love climbing, and are faster than terrestrials.
"Terrestrial"
Ground-dwelling species. They tend to be calmer, slower, and heavier bodied than arboreal tarantulas.

FAQ
- Why did you make this club?
I've never been 'afraid' of spiders, but 'daddy longlegs' and tiny spiders always scared me half to death. When I was older, I learned that you could actually get a big, fluffy spider as a pet! The thought amazed me, I did more research into Tarantulas, and eventually decided to buy my own. So, I made this club in honor of my new passion! - *But can't they kill you?!
Can a horse, or a cow, or even a dog kill you? Yeah, they can. Tarantulas, on the other hand, have often had their bites compared to that of a bee sting, and many of the New World species very rarely, if ever, even bite. Besides, if you're smart, you'll recognize the threat behavior (not hard to miss) before you get your hand chewed on.
