the manga collecting club
welcome to the manga collecting club! despite there being an anime and manga club already, i wanted to make a club specifically for those who collect physical copies and volumes of manga. here, we can share and post updates about our current collections, discuss our favorite mangas and genres, talk about new series serializations, and much more! all are welcome here -- you do not have to just collect manga in order to join in on the conversation, especially if you plan on collecting in the future but have't gotten around to it or you just want to join in on the conversation about a series that you love! keep reading if you're interested

rules
1. all chickensmoothie site rules apply and can be reviewed here
2. post a form to join the thread! it doesn't matter if you are not currently collecting manga -- post a form to introduce yourself before joining in on the discussion!
3. respect everyone's opinions and do not post harmful or nasty comments of any sort (this does not take into account discussion or constructive criticism when it comes to talking about a series!). if you do not like what someone has to say, simply do not comment on it at all. bullying of any type will not be tolerated whatsoever.
4. do not use any inappropriate terminology. boys love and girls love manga will be regarded to using only those terms or their shortened forms, BL and GL.
5. many popular manga of today contain adult themes and gore that are not appropriate for discussion on CS. please be sure to refrain from discussing these topics. if you feel that these topics can't be avoided, then do not say anything at all.
6. post a warning before discussing or listing any spoilers. posts that contain spoilers but give no spoiler warning will be removed.
7. no spamming! one or two word posts add nothing to the conversation and are considered spam. please try to make your post at least one or two sentences.
8. do not post any images that do not belong to you without the proper credit. along the same lines, if linking to another website, please do your best to make sure that it is CS friendly
9. have fun! make friends! talk about manga!!!

this club is officially open and welcoming any and all members!

there is also a poll at the top which asks where you prefer to buy your physical manga volumes -- i always find that rightstuf is the best since they have such a wide selection and great deals going on almost all of the time. my preferences in manga tend to lean towards older shoujo, which many in-person stores don't seem to carry (though many are getting reprints!). i do sometimes find myself not getting the same satisfaction from rightstuf though that i get from actually going to a bookstore in person and being able to purchase them there. my go-to for that has mostly been barnes&noble since its the most convenient for me + i have my membership there. but if i had to choose it would probably be books-a-million or newbury comics... they're just both unreasonably far from me </3

made in abyss has been on my to read list for such a long time now -- it's my best friend's favorite manga and they have an entire manga collection of it but i just keep failing to ever actually get around to it. also a fellow power lover <3

please do get around to reading it, the anime released season 2 and season 3 is underway. it's a beautiful, heartbreaking story full of wonderful worldbuilding and it plays with your feelings hard. aside from a few very questionable things here and there, the story is solid and entertaining and the volume covers are the most beautiful ones i've seen from any manga. overall, i highly recommend it
