What is a Tokimare?
Pronounced [TOE·key·mare]The name
Well to answer your question, their name gives a bit of a hint. "Toki," the Korean word for rabbit was combined with chimera, the word for a mixture of different animals/cells, therefore Tokimares are a rabbit mixed with different animals. Their name is usually shortened to Toki.
Traits of a Toki• rabbit-like nose
• large ears to cool off (like elephants and jackrabbits)
• tougher skin on top of head and down their back to the base of their tail to protect themselves from the sun's rays‣ this tougher skin grows thicker fur if the individual Toki has fur
• rodent-like front paws with "webbed" toes and thick forearms‣ the webbing is used for more surface area on terrain like sand and snow to prevent sinking in, and in water to increase control
• "claws" on front paws have no actual nail; they are just a sharper continuation of the digit
• rabbit-like back paws and back legs that are longer than their front legs
• leopard gecko tails that store nutrients through tougher times
• usually stand as a quadruped but occasionally go bipedalHabitat and Diet:
Tokies were originally discovered in deserts all across the world where their attributes allowed them to survive in the harsh conditions of the blistering heat during the day, the chill during the night, and the lack of food. However, other mutations have allowed the Tokies to travel outside of the desert into other habitats ranging mountains laden with snow, forests filled with all sorts of flora and fauna.
They are omnivorous opportunistic hunters and gatherers meaning they eat whatever they can find. This ranges from cactus fruits and scorpions in the desert, to small birds and fish in forests and lakes, or even roadkill.
