main adopts wrote:Elven Draconian Cats, otherwise known as Elvies, are merry and sometimes mischievous species who live off an omnivorous diet. Their pelt is often slick and smooth with long, harsh tufts growing from their shoulders and rear, yet some have been known to boast luscious long fur. Their most distinctive feature is their pointed and slightly curled ears, obviously giving rise to their name. Elvies can range from height and build but average between the size of a Siberian tiger and a horse. They are a highly adaptable and intelligent species being able to converse in a variety of learned languages, this talent has led them to migrate across the globe.

B A S I C Information:
• Elvies are capable of breathing fire and often do to protect themselves from enemies or the weather. Their flame colour differs from individual to individual.
• Light Elvies are rarer than their darker counterparts and are considered “fairer” (Of cause all Elvies are quiet fair by design). Light Elvies are any specimens with a pale/white/or light base coat or colouring that counts for ¾ of their body.
• Most Elvies are sociable creatures, communicating though a myriad of vocal sounds and body posture. If an Elvie is not exposed to solicitation at a young age it'll be considered an oddity. However some Elvies prefer to live a solitary life and will break away from it's Bifurcation (group).
• Elvies are akin to marsupials and hatch from eggs, they can have up to three eggs per clutch, however having a full three egg clutch is impossibly rare and normally a couple will only lay one. Fraternal twins are uncommon, while identical twins (a pair who developed within same egg) are extremely rare and will share a close bond. Siblings will never share the same coat, however identical twins will be mirror opposites in colour (often inverted). An egg will take approximately 4 -6 weeks to hatch.
• Elvies mate for life, but it has been known for a mated pair to grow apart. . . They can “divorce” but it is only under extreme circumstances so choose wisely.
• Some Elvies will grow horns as they reach maturity.
• An Elvie's tail can be ether short or long, often snow leopard “plushie” with dense think fur, on occasion they will sport no tail at all.
• Long furs are uncommon and sport flowing wispy tails.
• All Elvies have small dainty paws and almost deer like bone structure on their back legs.
• Males are not necessarily larger than Females, if fact it can be hard to tell the two genders apart without looking at the obvious.
• While Elvies are omnivores they will not touch “red” meat such as small game or large animals (cows, sheep, deer, large native animals to their environment), instead they feast on small reptiles, birds, and fish/seafood along with all kinds of vegetation. In a human environment they will expand into junk food and sweets.

V A R I A T I O N S:
The charts below list the most common variations Elvies can show and are considered the "base" types. Any Elvie displaying a trait not shown here is uncommon - Very rare depending on the mutation.
E A R Types:

Uncommon - Very Rare ear types can include:
• Feathering or tufts on ears
• Custom ears
• Two sets or more of ears
H O R N Types:

Any Elvie with no horns at all is considered Very Common.
Uncommon - Very Rare ear types can include:
• Edited base horns
• Custom horns
• Two or more sets of horns
T A I L Types:

Note: Tailless Elvies are considered Uncommon.
Uncommon - Very Rare tail types can include:
• Edited base tail (Nub // shorter // or longer variations of the base)
• No tail
• Custom tail
• Two or more tails
O T H E R Mutations:
Of cause there are an indefinite amount of mutations which can occur in Elvies, not all are located on the ears, horns, and tail. Here are just a few:
• Feathering on feet/legs
• Short - long hair
• Saber teeth
• Extra fur tufts
• Extra legs
• Longer - shorter shoulder tufts
• Altered Muzzles
• Manes/ Ruffs
• Pupil colour/shape

D E T A I L E D Information:
Elven Draconian cats evolved in isolated pockets of the world, hidden from the human population by clever means of adaptation. Certainly their DNA reveals startling evidence of a reptilian like ancestor despite their fur, which hints at a unique set of mutations occurring in small colonies due to their seclusion.
Those who have taken to living around human habitation learned to slink in the alleys as we sleep, being the spectral of many folk lore’s around the globe - such as phantom dogs, Kitsune and cait siths. They have enchanted us for centuries being the centre of strange happenings and magical occurrences; it is only in our technological era that we have discovered them for the first time.
And they have discovered us.
How can you live with a creature who has watched us evolve through the ages? Passed down knowledge about the nature destroying apes? Who know us better than we know ourselves? Nether species understand how we’re now living side by side but its evident Elvies are entering our home as “adoptee” companions.
Adopting an Elvie is not a simple matter; indeed it takes a lot of dedication or fool hardy luck to achieve the “Guardianship” of one Elvie, multiple Elvies living in a human household is not uncommon though as once one Elvie establishes a bond, more are likely to follow in trust. Elvies at heart are social creatures. Elvies raised from birth in human homes display a relaxed attitude and are open to learning human technology. It’s not uncommon to see a Kitett with an iPhone.
Since Elvies are extremely mysterious, long lived critters all that is known about them is written below, read thoroughly present and future guardians.
T e r m o l o g y:
A Male Elvie is called a “Elveen”.
A Female Elvie is called a “Elvess”.
A group of Elvie’s is called a “Bifurcation”.
A young Elvie is called a “Kitlett”.
A group of Elvie eggs is called a “Clutch”.
A group of kitletts is called a “Kittle”, this is a term most commonly used for a litter of Kitletts. “Kittle” can also be a pet name such as sweetheart or dear, basically it means “you’re as cute as a bunch of kitletts.”

Physical Features/ Attributes wrote:P h y s i c a l features/ Attributes:Elvies are a highly intelligent species capable of sentient thought, as such they’ve been known to learn a variety of languages. Incredibly their history is passed down verbally from generation to generation, keeping all record of their secret Elvie ways hidden despite being avid book lovers.
One of their most dragon like qualities is the ability to generate flame and subsequent flammable gasses, each Elvie will have an individual flame colour, however it’s not rare for two Elvies to share the same hue. Along with flame they have a few physical quirks inherited from their reptilian like ancestors, such as a large backward facing scale under their chins forming a pocket; they use this scale to store small trinkets of great value or sentimental items. Long back-paw talons that can reach up to 5 inches in length, this helps the species move effortlessly through the trees, digging into the harder bark without effort. And a variety of horn types, evidently arisen as an obsolete form of defence
Quiet obviously their two most distinguished features are their pointed ears giving rise to their name, and their long stiff fur, a relatively new development some say it evolved to replace dragon like spines. This fur is strong and hardy, repelling predators from their neck and hind quarters.
Size wise Elvies are large creatures, adults average between the height of a Siberian tiger and a horse. Their build is long and elegant with both genders showing no difference between each other. Large but nimble paws allow them to move through the tree tops at ease, while front paws look akin to a lemur’s complete with possible thumbs. S i z e guide:
Egg: Tear-drop shaped and 20 cms long.
Kitlett: Rabbit – Shetland sheepdog sized.
Adolescent: German Shepard - Great Dane sized.
Adult: Siberian tiger - Horse sized.

Breeding wrote:B r e e d i n g:
The species mates for life, choosing their other half through careful consideration, it is in an Elvie’s nature to be cautious even in matters of love. Once a partner has been selected a nest is formed, usually this nest consists of mosses, dried leaves, feathers and bordered by branches interwoven into intricate patterns. When a nest is made the result can be a clutch of up to 3 eggs after a gestation period of 3 months, however ordinarily only 1 egg is produced. The egg(s) are guarded fiercely until their hatching 4 – 6 weeks later, in which the newly born kitlett/kittle are fully developed and ready to explore the world.
Unlike the majority of species on this planet Elvies have evolved a unique reproductive system allowing them to survive in small isolated colonies, not to say inbreeding is welcome in their society, in fact it is heavily frowned upon, but same sex couples are able to produce offspring. It is speculated each Elvie contains both XX and XY chromosomes, however one is dominate over the other giving way to a specific outward gender (male or female).
The subdominant gender comes temporarily into action if one of the Elvie’s finds themselves with a partner of the same gender, thus giving rise to offspring.
One last important annotation:
Elvies hold their paler counterparts in high esteem visual wise, yet due to the genealogy behind light fur it is dangerous for two light Elvies to breed. Just like the gene combinations that create merle in dogs, if two light Elvies were to mate the resulting kittle have a high chance of suffering a disorder, commonly this is blindness or deafness, in severe cases disfiguration of the limbs or face. Thus this partnership is forbidden within Elvie culture.

Culture wrote:C u l t u r e:
Elven Draconian Cats have an exceptionally rich culture of which little is understood. On the whole they are sociable living in large groups known as bifurcations, named as such due to their branching family and friend ties, as each Elvie seems to be connected to the next almost like one living organism. It’s been noted amongst wild colonies that hormones and emotions play an important part in life, if one Elvie experiences strong anger than the rest are gallivanted into action. An enraged bifurcation is not easy to escape.
One would think this would make Elvies open to their motives, in fact it’s entirely the opposite, while emotions and cycles of life are openly shared secrets are kept close to heart, it is a privacy they hold dear for it is, in a way, their only discretion. Thus it makes the species a close knitted one, secretive and cautious.
Nature is a huge part of their daily life, even Elvies caught up in human ways tend to nature, soothing the plants under their care to grow and flourish. Each plant has a soul, and that soul must be cared for, it’s a huge wrong to neglect a plant when there are suitable resources on hand. That said those who do live with humans have turned a blind eye on a lot of plant “suffering” in an effort to adapt. Especially those hatched in cities.
This tender care can be flipped to a harsher side, just like Mother Nature Elvies can be seen as detached and callous, letting animals and plants die around them in a show of survival. Change is an important part of their society and so is death. In fact the changing of their seasons is cerebrated.
Books in their philosophy are revered amongst all other objects as tools of knowledge, and only selected trees, scared to the Elvies are painstakingly turned into paper for the permanent sticking of words, or as they call it, “sounds that stay”. Strangely enough certain pieces of history are never, ever written down, such as right of passages and leader choosing, these are passed on orally.
