Revelations: Persona

Postby Lieat » Wed May 20, 2015 5:14 pm

Image

Megami Ibunroku Persona centers around the protagonist and his classmates at St. Hermelin High School in Mikage-cho (Lunarvale in Revelations: Persona). Hidehiko Uesugi talks all of his friends into playing a game called "Persona", which is played much like the game "Bloody Mary". While playing, the students lose consciousness and meet Philemon, who gives them the ability to summon reflections of their personalities, which are known as Personas.

A short time later, the protagonist and several of his friends go to visit Maki, who is ill and bed-ridden. During their visit, they discover that the town is changing and demons are roaming the streets. The party is told by Maki's mother, an engineer working for SEBEC, that the culprit behind the incident is Takahisa Kandori, president of the company.

Honestly, I've never played the first Persona game,
    so I don't know what's a spoiler and what isn't. OTL

Persona: Innocent Sin & Eternal Punishment

Postby Lieat » Wed May 20, 2015 5:14 pm

Persona 2 is a duology of Japanese role-playing video games for the PlayStation, developed by Atlus. Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment are two chapters of the same storyline. The duology is a direct sequel to the first installment of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, Revelations: Persona, with several characters from that title playing various roles, both minor and major, in both games.

Set in the fictional metropolis of Sumaru City, Innocent Sin follows a high school student named Tatsuya Suou. Eternal Punishment, which takes place afterwards, switches focus onto Maya Amano, a young magazine editor. Both characters have near-death experiences which transport them to the realm of Philemon, an astral being who exists outside of the waking world. Philemon grants them the ability to summon a Persona, an alter-ego which manifests as a mythological figure.

Unlike other Atlus' older games, which are traditionally restricted to a first-person viewpoint, Persona 2 is seen from a third-person perspective.

Again, haven't played these, sooo.

Persona 3: FES & Portable

Postby Lieat » Wed May 20, 2015 5:15 pm

Image
In Persona 3, the player takes the role of a male high-school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students investigating the Dark Hour, a time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of. During the Dark Hour, the player enters Tartarus, a large tower containing Shadows, creatures that feed on the minds of humans. To fight the Shadows, each member of SEES is able to summon a Persona, a manifestation of a person's inner self. The game's most iconic feature is the method by which the members of SEES release their Personas: by using an Evoker. In addition to the standard elements of role-playing games, Persona 3 includes elements of simulation games, as the game's protagonist progresses day by day through a school year, making friends and forming relationships that improve the strength of his Personas in battle.

A PlayStation Portable version of Persona 3, titled Persona 3 Portable was released in Japan on November 1, 2009, and in North America on July 6, 2010. The remake adds the ability to play as a female protagonist, new story elements and music, and a new interface designed for the PSP.
I HOPE YOU'RE READY FOR EMOTIONAL RUIN

Persona 4 + Golden

Postby Lieat » Wed May 20, 2015 5:15 pm

Image
Persona 4 takes place in a fictional Japanese countryside and is indirectly related to both Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and Persona 2. The player-named main protagonist is a high-school student who moved into the countryside from the city for a year. During his year-long stay, he becomes involved in investigating mysterious murders while harnessing the power of summoning Persona. The game features a weather forecast system with events happening on foggy days to replace the moon phase system implemented in the previous games.

The plot of Persona 4 was inspired by the work of mystery novelists owing to its murder mystery premise. The rural setting was based on a town on the outskirts of Mount Fuji and intended as a "'nowhere' place" and is the central setting to have players sympathize with the daily life of the characters. The developers added many in-game events to prevent the game from becoming stale. During the localization, numerous alterations to names and cultural references were made to preserve the effect through translation, but some Japanese cultural references were altered or removed.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

Postby Lieat » Wed May 20, 2015 5:15 pm

Image
The game's story is split into two campaigns, which follow either the team of characters from Persona 3 or Persona 4; each campaign begins partway through the events of the characters' original games. Dialogue and events vary depending on the player's choice of protagonist. At Yasogami High School in Inaba, during the culture festival, a strange bell rings, trapping the Investigation Team inside a bizarre alternate version the school. Meanwhile, the members of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES) find themselves transported to the Velvet Room elevator, which suddenly winds up at the alternate Yasogami as well. Discovering a labyrinth hidden below the school, the two groups meet up and explore the area, fighting "shadows" along the way, in order to restore the memories of new characters Zen and Rei, whom the characters believe will lead them to freedom.

THIS WAS MY FIRST PERSONA GAME TBH AND I REGRET EVERY MINUTE.

The story focuses on the Protagonist after he is transferred to Shujin High School in Tokyo. Staying with friends of his parents, he meets up with two other students and a talking, shape-shifting cat. During his time there, feeling suppressed by his environment, he moonlights as a cat burglar dubbed "The Phantom", working with his friends to carry out heists and encountering mysterious phenomena along the way.
