❝ She read about people she could never be,
and adventures she would never have. ❞When you go out into town, is it the clothes shops or book shops that appeal to you more? Do you beg for a book for your birthday instead of a new phone? In a library do you feel at home? Have you ever read a book so much it has fallen apart? When your friends say that films are better than books, do you just laugh? If yes, come on in.
Books have always been a source of enjoyment for many people and sometimes it's nice to share the experience with others. But who can you go to? What if your friends don't like reading or don't want to read the book you've read? What if your family don't read or are too young or old to read the book? Well, here's the solution; The Book Club.
Here we'll be reading and talking about books together; sharing our experiences; reviewing and criticising; finding brilliant books and amazing authors. So, if you want to find out more; read on and join in!

❝ It is what you read when you don't have to
that determines what you will be
when you can't help it. ❞On chickensmoothie, we may have topics for discussing books and reviewing etc., but do we have an actual Book Club? The answer is, no. Until now. The Book Club will ensure that you're able to talk about a book many people have read at the same time as you. The idea is that, as a group, we will choose a book to read then read it and come back onto this thread to talk about it. Enabling you to debate, share your opinion, find new books and improve your own skills if you wanted to.
The books we read will be chosen through a process that allows everyone to contribute to the choice and means that it isn't biased or one-sided. As well as this, if you don't like the chosen book it's not obligatory to read it, like it might be at school.

❝ [color=004080]If one cannot enjoy reading a
book over and over again,
there is no use in reading it at all.[color] ❞THE FAULT IN OUR STARSconsulting detective wrote:Username: consulting detective
Book Title: the fault in our stars
Author: john green
Synopsis: despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. but when a gorgeous plot twist named augustus waters suddenly appears at cancer kid support group, hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
Why you are suggesting this book: because i finished reading it this morning, and i haven't stopped crying since. a lot of people have probably already read it, but it's amazingly written and is honestly perfect.
Please be aware that this book is aimed at teenagers/young adults and contains swearing and references to some sexual stuff but nothing at all heavy. If it was a film I'd rate it a 12 [in America, PG13] and if you feel that you might be uncomfortable with it - do not read it. Reading is not compulsory and I don't want complaints when this is a clear warning. Thank you.

➜ Do not argue. If someone doesn't share your opinion that doesn't matter. Debates are allowed but as soon as they turn into arguments they will be stopped and the person(s) warned/banned.

Book Title: Looking for Alaska
Author: John Green
Synopsis: “In the dark beside me, she smelled of sweat and sunshine and vanilla and on that thin-mooned night I could see little more than her silhouette, but even in the dark, I could see her eyes – fierce emeralds. And not just beautiful, but hot too.”
Miles Halter’s whole life has been one big non-event until he starts at anything-but-boring Culver Creek Boarding School and meets Alaska Young. Gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, screwed up and utterly fascinating she pulls Miles into her world, launches him into a new life, and steals his heart. But when tragedy strikes, and Miles comes face-to-face with death he discovers the value of living and loving unconditionally.
Why you are suggesting this book: As soon as I read this book I fell in love with it. I want to share it with people who have good judging skills and whose opinion I value. As well as this I want more people to know of this wonderful book and what it has done for me.
