*oblivious five* I missed the whole Doctor/Rose romance thing until it was pointed out to me :D I think that the fact that I picked up on it for Martha is part of why it annoyed me so much.
Sweet Release wrote:About Martha. I really love her. And I kind of like the storyline set out for her, I mean come on... she travels with the doctor, of course she falls in love with him... I like how that is written out and by god her last words to him. The story about the girl. 'Get out'. It makes me shiverrrrr. Martha is one of my favorites, I prefer her over Donna because... she does look up to the Doctor more... and I can relate to that... he ain't just some 'Alien-boy' he is......... o_O 'The DOCTOR'
Mm, but most companions fall in love with the Doctor. It'd be madness to say that Sarah Jane didn't love him, but their relationship was completely different. She cared deeply about him, and looked up to him at times, but she was still the first to tell him he was being stupid or pull him out of a sulk. Ten and Martha both sulk sulk sulked their way through series three, which was a shame. They really needed someone to pull them out of that rut, because they were brilliant when they weren't left to wallow.
(On a completely unrelated note I don't think I've mentioned on CS how ace-ly I read Sarah Jane :B Because I totally do and it fits so well. Sarah Jane Smith for heteroromantic asexual forever in my headcanon)
Donna loves the Doctor too. It's a deeply platonic love, but still. And she looks up to him and admires him because he shows her the universe and also shows her that there are people out there who think that she's brilliant. She calls him names because she's a really defensive person and she doesn't like admitting to people how much she cares about them. She looks up to him but not so much that she ignores all his bad qualities. Instead her lack of love-sickness highlights them so that she can try to balance them out, which she does amazingly
(omg moirallegiance :O /too much Homestuck too quickly).
Iiiiii have no idea why people think that Jack would be unimpressed with the Doctor's appearance and therefore love him less? Yeah, Jack is a man-whore, but he also loves people for themselves, and he loves the Doctor. A bow tie won't stop that.
