What do you mainly look for when seeking new art or art of a character your purchasing? Of course quality, but what else?
I look a lot at the style in which the art is done. I might not order certain styles, not because it's not good quality, bt because the specific style doesn't suit me. I also look at the personalities an artist is best at displaying. FOe example, if someone specializes in doing, adorable, chibi peices, I woulden't order from them if I needed art of an imposing, darck character.

I always look at the style, it's important to me that the style matches the character with custom art. I also look at how they pose art, if it's generic or repetitive poses i'm less likely to order their art. Lastly I look at how they portray emotion in their art, I absolutely love it when they really show how the character feels and let it's personality shine through.

Here are some examples of my art.
There are threads for this. Not here.
I will be here
when you think you’re all alone
Seeping through the cracks
I’m the poison in your bones
My love is your disease
I won't let it set you free
Til I break you
You’ll never know what hit you
Won’t see me closing in
I’m gonna make you suffer
This hell you put me in
I’m underneath your skin
The devil within
You’ll never know what hit you
I tried to be the lover to your nightmare
Look what you made of me
Now I’m a heavy burden that you can’t bear
Look what you made of me
Look what you made of me
I’ll make you see

I look to see if their anatomy is good and if my character would look good in their art style. Sometimes they don't so I don't order. I also look for decently priced. I do have some rarer pets but I have a hard time giving them up for some people's art. Yes it may be good but I just don't feel right doing it. And honestly I feel I too deserve rares to very rares for my art but I try to keep the prices lower so people can actually buy it.

Not really quality as much as effort, I'd rather a full artwork from a not-popular/newer artist then a sketch from an artist whose known by everyone. Also if the artist is just a scam or not.
Someone who was on dA for a year stolen a design and sold it to me, I had no idea but then they took point commissions, about 10 I say and took everyone's points, probablyshoved them on their REAL account then deactiviated the other account.

First I check to see what kind of style the artist does. Some of my characters don't look good in a really cutesie style, whereas others look really good that way. Another think I look at is anatomy. Sometimes some people draw without any sense of anatomy and it makes just about anything look bad. I also look at how well the artist can portray characters. Sometimes people just draw the same cookie-cutter pose for all of the characters they are drawing. I love when an artist can draw an animal with personality. <3
