Could I have some anime recommendations please?

I'm looking for a short anime that is a maximum of 24 episodes long but with a preferred length of 13 episodes max (or, if it has two seasons, 12-13 episodes each season is completely fine), but I don't have anything specific I'm looking for. The one thing I don't want is anything revolving around romance, please. But otherwise I'm up for anything, although at least a little action is preferred. Can be any rating and any genre (some romance is fine, I just don't want a plot based on it), sad or happy, popular or not well known. I just want something that I'll like to kill time with.

You could watch Karneval. It is 13 episodes, not based on romance, and a good story too!

sorry it's not short at all but i've like fallen in love with tegami bachi and i think you'll love it too?? it doesn't revolve around romance and has a really interesting protagonist it just has a lot of episodes so rip (25 episodes each season)

tales of zestiria is a game with an anime special it's really nice with very pretty animation
karneval is really good too the colors are wonderful and very nice protags
no game no life is also wonderful the colors are beautiful although there's a lot of fanservice be warned
tokyo ravens is also an interesting anime with 24 episodes
owari no seraph is a currently airing anime with a p big resemblance to attack on titan if you like that stuff

Hatenkou Yuugi (it only has 10 episodes, way to less for the manga, but nice to watch),
Loveless (it officially Bl, but there is actually not much romance in it and I like the fight scences, 12 episodes)
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (25 episodes, how I wish that it would have some romance moments XD)
No.6 (11 episodes, just a kiss and some sweet moments for us Bl-lovers)
Princess Princess (12 episodes, another one were I hoped for Bl, but it's at least funny)
Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (26 episodes, you get to know that some characters have feelings for each other, but that is all, the main focus is action and fantasy)
xxxHolic (24 episodes)
Kuragehime (11 episodes, the main character has a crush on someone, but it's more comedy and Slice of Life)
Zombie-Loan (11 episodes)
Betrayal Knows My Name (24 episodes, Bl, but like Loveless more fantasy than romance)
Skip Beat (25 episodes, it's a romance anime, but its about a girl that wants revenge on her ex-boyfriend for using her as a maid so no kiss scene or anything, which is also because the anime just shows part of the manga, I recommend it, because it's nice to watch and it has one of my favourite female characters)

You could also watch movies like: Brave Story, Animal Crossing movie, Layton movie, Children who Chase Lost Voices, Mai-Mai Miracle, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Welcome to The Space Show or those not romance focused ghibli movies

- Lots of people enjoyed mirai nikki
- samurai champloo - has 26 but trust me it is worth it, good animation
- azumanga diaoh is a funny slice of life
- watamote is interesting to watch you can relate if you're a indoor person who has social problems

I usually watch a lot of super long animes (sometimes up to 700+ episodes and are still airing...), but one of the few shorter animes that I have enjoyed was Mirai Nikki. Interesting plot, good characters, plus the queen of yandere is in there, so that makes things interesting. (Kind of reminds me of the Hunger Games, just with diaries that tell the future...) I don't know if you're into magical girl animes, but Puella Magi Madoka Magica was a pretty good one too.
