Gifts? You mean the 10/100 Bells you sometimes see in your mailbox?
That's for sending help when people send out their quarry requests - you get 100 bells if you helped and they go to the quarry, or 10 if you helped and they don't go to the quarry before the daily reset.

What would you like to see in a Switch version of Animal Crossing?

I'd personally like to see some new villager species, or maybe something to replace Island Minigames, which just annoy the heck out of me. Some of them are fun, others are just plain frustrating

Great question! and coming out and number one on my mind is that hopefully they actually make one for the Switch. I mean I don't see a reason they wouldn't especially since its a pretty good money make but who knows. Also I'd want a more local multiplayer option with split screens.

One of the things I love about Animal Crossing compared to other games, Nintendo or otherwise, is that because Animal Crossing doesn't have an ending, you can't say it's too difficult or too easy to complete. My problem with a lot of modern video games, especially the Pokemon series, is that there's too much emphasis on new things and not enough challenge. My first video game was Pokemon FireRed, and it was hard at times, to the point where I felt like throwing my GBA SP against the wall. But in my opinion, all the frustration made beating the game that much more satisfying. I'm not surprised when people beat XY/ORAS/SM/USUM in two weeks or less, because there's nothing that makes it challenging enough that you get frustrated, take a break and think up a strategy, and go back in and grind before trying out your strategy.
