welp, finished up the first episodes of the series that i plan to watch this season! if you're not sure which spring anime that you'd like, i'm writing a bit about them below if that might help ^^ i mentioned several of them in a previous post, so these are just the remainder of what i didn't write about before.
Ame-Iro Cocoa was a little disappointing on several levels, including art and the plot, which seems to be all over the place. Considering that each episode is about 2 minutes long, however, I guess there's not much opportunity for story or character development. I'll watch another three episodes for Mamoru Miyano, and then if it doesn't show any promise, I'm going to drop it.
Arslan Senki is an intriguing adventure story set in a rather nonconventional setting- it seems to be Arabic-influenced. I like the vaguely historical/fantasy feeling, which reminds me of Akatsuki no Yona. Arslan is adorable; can't say much as for the other characters. I feel like this will be a lot like Akatsuki no Yona, actually, in terms of character and plot development. I'll keep watching it for now. Prepared for feels next episode.
Denpa Kyoushi was disappointing in terms of the art; the story is alright. I thought it was mildly humorous and the teacher is charismatic. Something about the voices irritates me; I think maybe they used some sort of different microphone, because the voice of the teacher especially seems to echo or scratch quite a bit...I can't quite place it. I'll give it another three episodes and see how it goes! It won't be my favorite this season, I can tell already, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
Kekkai Sensen left me really confused. Nothing at all made sense in that episode, and a bunch of scenes were repeated, which only added to my bewilderment. Maybe it's just me, though; everyone else seems to be super-hyped about it and I've seen people remark about how it's one of the best first episodes out there. I feel like it was extremely lacking in terms of information and thus I'm not terribly enthusiastic about it, but maybe I'll watch the next episode and see if anything is explained then. It's possible they chose to open with a lot of action just to get viewers hooked.
Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku is decently interesting. It's not tagged as shoujo-ai or yuri, but I think it's shoujo-ai...though I wonder if the main character's feelings will ever be reciprocated? :b I'll keep watching this one too, at least for now. It's a really cheerful anime, which makes me wonder if it'll become more dark in future episodes...who knows?
Ore Monogatari!! was unexpectedly charming, cute, and funny. I love all the characters so far, and it was a wonderful opportunity to hear Shimazaki Nobunaga laugh; his laugh is adorable and when I heard it, I thought, hey, isn't that Haru's laugh? That's Haru's laugh! Which, before I cut myself off before I go on a tangent, is a laugh that's only heard as a snippet during a Free! short, so it was really remarkable for me, and I kept playing that part of the Ore Monogatari!! episode over and over again xD I enjoy it quite a bit so far. I don't think the premise of the story is extremely innovative, though it does go a little bit from the mainstream shoujo path, but it'll be a fun watch.
