I really dislike people comparing telling others they are a furry to like coming out as lgbt+ though, i wasnt sure if you meant to make it sound like that.

I dislike that too.

The only problem I can see with telling somebody that you are a furry is if they only know the bad side. I don't tell anybody unless it comes up in a conversation because it's not really necessary to randomly tell people. I've had a few people ask me if I'm a furry and I've always told them that I am. Turns out that one of my closest friends are too

Yeah, most of my friends dislike/hate furries because they think its weird and/or only know the fetish/sexual-side. Thats also why I dont tell them that i am part of the fandom. I actually dont tell anyobe unless a conversation somehow gave a good oppertunity.
I just always see people being like 'how am i going to tell/come out to my parents', and it rubs me the wrong way i guess. You dont need to tell anyone, and if you really want to, you can tell them like you tell about any other hobby/interest. I dont think anyone shares all their hobbies/interests with their parents and friends, so i dont see why you would go out of your way to tell anyone (unless its a topic of the conversation)

Welcome! We were actually going to do a big free art trade on the thread, but I havent heard anything from it and dont know what happened. But, when (my) finals are over I will try to get back to it, I think it would ve a great oppertunity to get to know people and make friends.
(Also, if you are looking to make more furry friends, maybe try joining some furry-community sites, like ones that have fora to talk. I bet you can make loads of friends there too!)

I've joined some sites but I'm too shy to talk to people on them. I've even gone on one for my state and even ended up meeting someone who lived relatively close. We met up but it didn't work out too well...

You don't gotta bribe us to be your friend man just be yourself and people will come. Like Lttrk said we're trying to host a big art trade soon so thats definitely something you can get involved in!!

I think I'd really like that! I'm better at art then starting conversations.

Yeah, I also joined a bunch of sites but never really ended up talking to people ^^' moreso because i dont really know what to talk about! Like, what do you talk about in a furry community? Art? Your fursona(s)? I cant really talk about any of that because most my fursonas are rather undeveloped and art is expensive. I want to make some art myself, but im currently really busy with my finals. So i dont have a whole lot to talk about with people.
Thats why i thought the art trade would be a fun thing to do, but i dont know what happened and i havent gotten a reply from the person who would host. In a little bit more than a week we will try again, so if you want to join keep an eye on the thread!
