Some of these responses go back quite far but there was just a lot I wanted to say c:
@Mythic - I really love that speciea and idea. I hope they sell to someone who does something great with them. Good luck!
@Emris - really nice kintaur! The lineart is so pretty. Good luck!
@carrie911 - gosh your art is always amazing ; H ;
Which Volcara species design do you like better?I actually like the old lineart better. Im sorry! I just think the new lineart is too much in a "popular" cartoony style, whereas the other one was more unique. But maybe the reason so many adopts have a cartoony style is because people like it more, who knows?
What can be added to the new lines to make them better?Just remember to save room for edits and accessories C:
What's one (or more) feature/theme of a closed specie(s) that you think is overused? Or could be done better?
I think that closed species as a whole art overused. There's no way to make something totally unique. I say just make decisions that make sense - don't be like oh here's a shark dog that wears feathers and has wings. Like you wouldnt need wings if its an aquatic creature, you know? Just make them make sense. They can be fantasy, obviously. But dont make decisions on appearance just because it sounds cool. Ask yourself why would that creature have those features? Try to make up your own features, too, like instead of horns maybe it has sensory organs growing from its head, or instead of a canine or feline based species maybe it's based off an anteater or a scorpion.
Overall, some things I say are overused and to avoid: food based, mouths in places that dont make sense such as tail mouths, feathers as growths/accessories, and star/galaxy themed, amd calling things dragons when they kind of arent
@ Yuuya Kizumi - omg that new OC is the most precious thing ever
I have a question -
- Code: Select all
Would you be willing to spend money buying handpainted plastic figures of your OCs? Or have you ever spent money on something like this? What kind of price would you be willing to spend on something like this?
I ask because I recently got into working with plastic for cosplay, and I was thinking of making a makoatl mold to make figures of my makos. But I was wondering if this was something people would be willing to buy? Obviously on DA, not via CS. Each one would be made on one of a variety of molds, similar to how Breyer horses are produced. So the base wouldnt necessarily be completely original but the added parts and paintjob would be. However the chemicals for making each piece is expensive so I would only be willing to do this if people were willing to pay enough to cover the costs and for me to make at least a little profit myself.
