I agree with Rainbow Dash. No matter how many fans support other orientations, it is not going to work. The could be sued for influencing children to be of a different orientation. They could lose lots of money, which I am not sure about the estimate. They could go out of business, and MLP wouldn't exist anymore. It just can't be done. They might be able to pull of disabilities, but I doubt that. We have all remembered and brought up what happened in The Last Roundup. Hasbro could go completely out of business if that were to happen with the disabilities being made completely obvious, and even talking about it a million times, even mentioning it in the moral.

Personally, I dont understand the "what if non straight ships were canon" argument. The show really only has a couple canon couples (the Cakes, the Oranges, etc) and even these ponies act as parental influences. If they had to "censor" Derpy because of upset parents, imagine what would happen if they had made ponies homosexual? The creators would get sued, I'm sure.

I don't think it was parents upset about Derpy, it was offended fans that made a big deal about it on the internet. When the writer of that episode has a special needs child. And "derp" is and never was a slur against handicapped people.

Gay ponies probably not going to happen. Yes, we live in a time where homosexuality for the most part is accepted (and I'd argue to an extent mainstream with shows like Modern Family and Glee) but let's be honest here; we're all fans of a thirty minute commercial for toys. That's what MLP:FiM is when you boil it down.

And money talks. Hasbro is not going to be controversial unless they can be sure their income isn't gonna be hit by it. It's not a matter of if they lose money by having canonically gay ponies, it's a matter of how much.

It sucks, but that's business.

To avoid confusion, I am simply saying releasing gay ponies would be a stupid thing for the creators to do.
