You must go with Coco to the vet RIGHT NOW. This sounds quite serious. If he's skinny and if he's loosing fur, you need to go to a vet today, right now, or tomorrow. If his health is going more down, then the vet can't do anything on Friday anymore.

I own mice, rats and hamster since several years. I know how serious such diseases are. In many cases it goes from 100% down to zero in two days.

You need to keep him warm, feed him through shots and give him water He must drink, even if you have to force him and seize him by the neck. And he must eat alot of vitamins, thats why he is loosing fur. Water is much more important, though.

Not your fault! I understand eveyone has their own lifes...I'll extend the competetion for an extra 2 weeks!

Now, Im in a problem Coco(one of my sisters robo)-he's incredibly skinny, looks tired and we think he's loosing fur near his tail(just above), we only noticed it today, but my mum said if he went to the vets then they probably wont be able to do anything-I unsure-however, we said that if he's like this next Friday..he'll go to the vets! What do you think?

Off topic: Really? When abouts..err...dumb question-whats an eclipse?!

How old is he? The losing fur could e a sign of old age. Is he eating and going to the toilet? If not then he could be constipated(though when maic was she kept on eating)

Loosing fur could be parasites or stress. The weight loss teeth or something worst. I'm no expersy but I would advise you take him/her to the vets.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

He's around 6 months.

Well, I thanks everyone for their comments/advice-he's back to normal and we believe its because he and his brother have been fighting, so we should move them put into different cages soon. I really am thankful for your advice.

Thats probably it , hes probably getting stressed out which is why hes losing his fur and eating less. Were they sexed properly? When i had my chinese dwarfs I was told they were boys but they were actualy girls(They said girls would fight and boys wouldnt)

I think pretty much all hamsters do that, it could be a sign that shes bored but it sounds like she has plenty to do. I have this problem with my degus(they drive me mad) some people have recomended spraying their cage bars with anti chew spray or bitter apple spray(usually designed for dogs) but im no sure how effective it is because Ive never tried it.
