Yes, so probably, in pokémon amie, pokémon will say their names, and in battle, they have their old cries... That's a possibility.

Yeah, I doubt they'd switch over to Pokemon saying their names. That would mean they'd have to hire voice actors. Many voice actors. In different languages. For example, Meowth has five different names, depending on which country it's in. So that would raise the cost of making the games by a lot.

Well pikachu is the mascot -be glad it's not clefairy- and while it's possible that it was just for the trailer it wouldn't be the first game pikachu says its name if it's true.

Also, everyone has to face it. Most of the pokémon fanfictions- not good. But our creepypastas... Arceus, we are one of the fandoms with awesome creepypastas.
For example, my sister never cried. When she was born, she sneezzed and scratched the doctor. I'm not kidding. She was a bully before it was cool. She beat up kids at the kindergarten. She giggled when I told her horrid stories when she was younger. But the day she read the best Pokémon creepypastas I found...
I saw her cry.
She had nightmares for two months.
And, top of all, she started loving pokémon.
Because it was the first thing that she actually cried about.
The first thing she feared.

Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon because it's not gender specific-- it can appeal to both boys and girls.
Also because at the time of Pokemon's marketing, there were not many yellow mascots. Pikachu stood out.

If you imported the Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow into Pokemon Stadium it would say its name as a cry.

I hate small, cute pokémon.
That means I hate Eevee, Eeveelutions, Pikachu,
Pichu, Shinx, Smoochum...
It's nothing personal, it's just I find them overused. They're too popular, and seriously, I hate popular guys.

I hate Smoochum and Pichu and all of the baby Pokemon apart from Shinx BECAUSE LUXRAY IS SO AWESOME I CAN'T EVEN asdfjklf
Anyways, I HATE it when, when asked to name their favourite Pokemon, people say giant monsters like Kyurem, Regigigas, Darkrai and all of those huge Pokemon. AGH. Just becaue they're huge and burly doesn't mean they are appealing in ANY WAY. This makes me so mad...
