Tanukis... Hmm... Well, there's obviously the mythological tanuki, with the huge transforming powers (got you there, didn't I?) and also the massive balls. The balls of the mythological one were based on the RL tanuki's disproportionately large testicles, if you didn't know that. They also... I dunno... They hibernate... Uh, sometimes... And they're omnivorous like bears, so that's kind of cool. :3 Otherwise they aren't that exciting. I think the white ones might be lucky, though.

Urm, martens are the only mustelids with retractable claws, I believe 8D? And they're one of the few predators agile enough to catch a squirrel in the trees. And I think they can (fishers at least) kill porcupines.

@Question - Pharaoh Hounds were worshipped by the Egyptians and an ancient Pharaoh king (the name escapes me D:) was found with a golden Pharaoh Hound case containing a mummified Pharaoh Hound in his tomb. ;D Huzzah.
